Well the streak was nice and all, but we would put a blemish on things when we versed the Bears. Not that we were thrashed by any means overall, but we let this one slip. The Bears full forward in tony would prove to be the difference, as his 4 goal First Quarter gave his team the early ascendancy, and he would kick 6 for the match. Although his direct opponent in T2B_ would fight back and restrict him after that opening term, the damage was done. The Bears would manage to keep us at arm's length for the remainder of the match, except for a very late run in the last term where a quick burst saw us close within 5 points. Sadly however, the visitors would peg one back late, ultimately winning by 10 points.

Presenting: The Pie 4 Life Medal ​

It is now time to present the Pie 4 Life Medal, named after naturally, the great man Pie 4 Life. The Pie 4 Life Medal is effectively the best clubperson, a member of the team that consistently shows up, gives their all and represents all the best qualities of a Qooty player and person donning the Dragons FFC guernsey; someone you would happily go to war with, but equally settle down for a pint with at Crocodile Drunkees.

The winner here may surprise, as our medal recipient actually played less games than many on our list...

Give it up for our winner of the Pie 4 Life medal... DragoDelph!

Drago has proven himself to be a superb individual and servant of the Dragons FFC. From Round 3 to Round 10, Drago actually wasn't a listed Dragon, as he went off on a tour of the reserves for various SFA clubs, sampling the various clubs and their match threads and even blessing them with reports on how he, as an outsider, found the experience and any recommendations he might have. Despite this sabbatical though, Drago retained the Dragon fire within his heart and kept in touch with us and even showed up to our match thread to check in. And, once listed again, he returned with a vengeance, providing insane post counts (averaging 100+ posts) and engagement in our match threads.

Drago's quality is well known around the league and while he was technically around less for us in S36, his presence was still keenly felt. Not only that, but captain Greenery's endorsement of the man as his second in command for the upcoming season speaks for itself.

Congrats DragoDelph, here's to you!

Round 16 vs Mt Buller Demons

After a bye following the Bears match, we would roll up against the Delons once more. There was good news and bad news to follow this match. Good: we won. Bad: it meant we had to play the Wonders in finals. In hindsight I am not sure this was a great result, but eh. A win is a win and we played finals. Anyway, the match itself: The Demons looked to have the advantage on the scoreboard for the first half of the match. Usually only by a goal or two, as defensively we held up very well. After having his bottom royally spanked by tony of the Bears two weeks prior, T2B_ returned to best form at Full Back completely blanketing the Delons' Wosh, before swinging forward to bag 3 goals, after a fairly even Third Quarter between the two sides. We then went on a run of goals in the last with the big man in Chief also swung into the ruck, bagging a few himself all the while giving the mids an armchair ride, ultimately meaning we trounced the Demons late, running out 42 point victors.

Elimination Final vs West Coast Wonders
LOSS 114-86 ​

And so we came to the finals! Unfortunately with our topsy turvy season, we didn't get the double chance and so we headed into an Elimination Final against the Wonders. For three quarters of the match it looked to be anyones game. It was a fairly even game, perhaps made to look a bit better with the Wonders relative inaccuracy, but we held our own and by Three Quarter time we had gotten within 7 points, courtesy of an incredible blitz of 5 goals by rookie big_icky who moved off the interchange into Full Forward. Unfortunately (there's that word again), it wasn't to be for the mighty Dragons. In the final term, the Wonders would halt our scoring while managing to hit the scoreboard enough, however inaccurately, to run out 28 point victors.

We of course, then ran out to Crocodile Drunkees and got so drunk as to forget it ever happened...

Presenting: Coach Andonis1997's MVP ​

Here we come to the Coach's MVP award. Our coach this season was Andonis1997, having replaced Coach AceAndy after the latter made one too many weird substitutions a couple seasons ago. Andonis then paid homage to Ace by... doing basically the same thing a lot of this season too, but he did get wins and we made finals, so there's that.

For those somehow unfamiliar: Each week Coach gives a 3-2-1 vote on the best performers for the Dragons from the sim output, with matchup results, opposition performance and raw statistics all considered. The player with the most votes come the end of the season is awarded the Coach’s MVP Award.

Our winner tonight is perhaps surprising. Actually, no it's not really. A powerhouse name in the league, a literal legend, this man put in a powerhouse performance in the midfield too...

Congrats Ljp86 on the Coach's MVP!

I say it's not too surprising because anyone that followed the Mobbs Medal (or of course, tonight's MVP count) would have seen Ljp coming away with this like a freight train. The great man only just narrowly missed out on the Mobbs Medal, which given it is a league-wide award, should tell you something.

Amassing 312 damaging disposals over 15 games, along with a team high 98 tackles (demonstrating his two-way ability), kicked 11 goals 8 behinds and totalled a team high of 1250 DreamTeam points, it's no wonder Ljp featured so well in the coach's votes as well as the Qumpires.

The man kicked butt in the midfield all season and is well deserving of this award. Congratulations to our MVP, Ljp86!

Presenting: The Blaze Storm Medal ​

The Blaze Storm Medal represents the best year player at the Dragons, i.e the best of the rooks.

Last season, we had the fine rookies in Ge3ks and prpl_jss (Purple Jesus) running around, so our rooks in S36 had some shoes to fill.

The winner of this fine award?

Well once again....

Drizzy and big_icky are joint winners!

With 14 and 13.33 posts per match respectively, Drizzy and big_icky finished mighty close in the posting department. big_icky started off the season like a house on fire, hitting 30-40 posts in the first handful of weeks before the big ol' IRL would get in the way, while Drizzy would fire up more in the middle to later half of the season. It's fair to say Drizzy worked into things very well, considering he was as new to BigFooty overall as he was to the SFA. Both rookies brought their own brand of wit and personality to the table though.

On the Qooty field they also had some strong performances, even when occasionally playing off the bench in an already super strong competitive Dragons lineup. Both would play all 15 games of the season, including the final, with big_icky averaging 17 disposals, taking 62 marks and kicking 11 goals 2 behinds, and also having equal high Frees Against (17) for the club, making one wonder if his name is really biff_icky. Drizzy would average 14 disposals playing more deeper forward, taking 68 marks and kicking 14 goals, 10 behinds.


All in all, it was hard to split the two, so the powers that be at the Dragons decided that both were deserving of recognition on a fine season. So Drizzy and big_icky, go forth and fight/celebrate over the medal!

A good omission from this. Good job, dragons.
