Yes he's a sanfl player and we will move this thread later, but Ethan Moore is getting some attention among our sanfl top up ranks and warrants some discussion.

Moore said the experience at Alberton so far has been unbelievable.

“The coaches are great,” he said.

“'Cotts' [Jarrad Cotton] has been really good and obviously I've enjoyed Lokes' coaching as well. He's been fantastic. I've been really enjoying myself at the moment, I've got a couple of league games under my belt now.

“Experience like Joel Garner down back, Jarrod Lienert and Trent McKenzie as well, they're really good to go and learn off.

“Cam Sutcliffe has been really good for me through the midfield, talking to him about structure and the likes.

“All the senior guys have been really good for a young bloke like me.”

Sutcliffe aside, he has probably been the best top up player for us thru all the trial games and first 2 rounds so far.

He's only 20, and we aren't allowed to recruit players that SANFL clubs list in their top 40. I reckon he would make the top 30 at most SANFL clubs.

Good that he went and played a year of country footy and we recruited him from there and didn't have to have another SANFL s**t fight. Might be the way to go to get around the rules, encourage decent U/18, reserves players to have a "gap year."

Is that a rule? Matthew Appleton was in Norths best 21 for 15 games in 2018, and came to us the next year because he couldn't get a gig in finals.

Liked the look of Moore in the game on Saturday. He looked a very tidy player, he's not small but he is that unfortunate vanilla 180cm/80kg ht/wt combo that makes it hard to get a look in at the next level without a major weapon.

He had a couple of big possession games for Westies at u18s a couple of years back, so he knows how to find the ball.

Yep this was part of the rule changes announced on 2nd October 2018. We might have just snuck in Appleton and with Carr coaching a flag he probably assisted the move being allowed.

The key elements of the approved rule changes, which will come into effect for season 2019, are:
  1. A $20,000 base payment salary cap (total) to retain contracted players, with a maximum of $4000 per player
  2. Access to all players in South Australia who are not on any other SANFL Club 1 – 40 lists, whether they have played at SANFL level or not in the last 18 months
........

Edwards may have jumped ahead of Surman for the mid season draft, if we want a big fella.

Moore had a quiet day on Sunday against WWT. I missed most of the first quarter so I missed the best bit of his days work.

Including trial games, he has been our best SANFL contracted player.

Moore got 17 disposals.. that's not quiet. He just might not have had a massive game changing impact. But he played his role and that's all he has to do.
