Exie Points - in 2003 this was the Sweet FA's version of Dreamteam

Exie Points was a scoring scheme that was basically the same as Dreamteam points, but using weightings devised by player X Box X, instead of those in current real-life use.

A. Exie points are player scores calculated through a system devised by Titans receiver X_Box_X. A score is calculated via the following atttributes :
Kicks – 3 points
Handballs – 2 points
Marks – 5 points
Tackles – 5 points
Goals – 8 points
Behinds – 1 point
Hitouts – 1 point
Frees For – 2 points
Frees Against - -2 points
The Sweet FA Stats Dept maintains Exie stats for each player along with all the usual stats (kicks, marks etc), and standings can be posted upon request.

Now, I doubt I'll joel much support on this. But I a suggesting that, in keeping with the fantasy theme, maybe we could use Exies instead of Dreamteam calculations. This could be the display in the forum-friendly aftermatch stats, and if a dreamteam comp is run, it could be based on these, as well.

I just like the concept of something more individual to fantasy footy, as opposed to following suit with the AFL.

Thoughts?

well we should be using the fantasy scores for something, maybe for a competition to be run each season throughout the home & away part of the season.

It's not a bad idea, but it's going to be a hard enough thing to run as it is, without having to calculate the points semi-manually every week.

I think Mobbs is saying they would be put in the forum-friendly stats package at the end of each game.

Would it be possible to hard-code Exie points into the game along with how those points affect the price of each player, Mobbs? So instead of someone running the comp the Simmer could just post a list of each player, their Exie points and value in the ExieTeam thread or something?

It sounds really, really hard. But probably not impossible.

One of the biggest problems is that I don't do dreamteam stuff, so I am kind of ignorant of what the actual requirements would be.

But yes, the Exies would be in the stats table, just as dreamteam is currently.

So, so long as peterss doesn't sim the matches, they should be there automatically.

It won't be exactly the same. The weightings aren't just higher evenly, they would work out a little differently to Dreamteam.

So it gets to give us some individuation from real footy. Anything that is just a bit novel and different like that is a plus imo.

I'll be honest. Would prefer DT points as it's easy to compare and has a more 'known' concept. Not against exie points, it's just what I am used too.
I see the logic in this. If you get over 100 DT points you know you've played well and it's easy to compare to AFL, but it wouldn't take too long to adjust to Exies, I wouldn't think.

Damn I wanted to look at the link in the OP but even after deleting everything in the URL after the thread ID, it still returns an error message. I have a bad feeling that maybe this thread got lost in the transfer to the New BF. I have a feeling that many other threads did too... for instance, I was trying to search some match threads from Series 6 of SoO. Only got round summaries, nothing else. :(

Mobbenfuhrer can you confirm that all threads have been transferred over properly?

Caesar check out the OP of this thread where the link is, even if you remove everything after the thread ID it still returns an error. This is just one of the seemingly many disappeared match threads from the Sweet FA board. :(
