Hello everyone and welcome to episode 2 of the best new SFA show. Tonight, my guest has flown in all the way from Baghdad to join me. Entering his second season in the SFA, he has quickly become one of the intergral players in the Bombers line up, coming off a tough game in the Grand Final re-match where he was crucial to the Bomber fight back with 15 kicks and a goal. He was apart of Bagdhad's premiership win last year but more importantly, he has recently come out on top in the Inaugral Mario Kart Race. Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome ThePuppetMaster.
Thanks Filthy, good to FINALLY be here - why wasn't I the first guest?
Just kidding, but seriously.
Always the joker is Puppet, but we must get down to business. I understand winning a premiership in your first year of SFA footy must have been an incredible achievement; but surely winning Mario Kart would have to be the greatest moment in your entire life.
The Mario Kart Victory is no doubt my greatest personal achievement in the SFA, but that's only because I don't consider the premiership an achievement of my own - it's a team achievement
hearts: Bombers)
However, in terms of my life's greatest achievements - I have wasted two years of my life studying a horrendous university course (Arts lulz) and have managed not to neck myself; I consider that an outstanding achievement.
Also that time I beat a bunch of fat Indians to win an indoor cricket grand final.
Oh! I also made Eggs Benedict the other day - basically flawless on my first attempt, so come at me bro's.
It was on a bagel, with salmon.
Eggs benedict how scrumptious! There's no doubt you have many hidden talents Puppet. My only question is why do you keep them so hidden?
Oh, my hidden talents are almost innumerable - but we can't blow the load on them too quickly can we?
But I mean you've become a key part of a premiership team in a short space of time, you're a kart enthusiast ontop of that and yet nobody seems to rate you in the top echelon of posters. You didn’t even register a vote in the EKA last season. How do you explain that?
The lack of EKA votes came as a slight surprise (especially given some of the vote getters and where they are know... eh, THB?), but one that didn't really phase me - I enjoy contributing to the Bombers and the SFA; and I feel I've been getting good recognition from some sectors since my strong finish to last season - admittedly I had a patch bordering on inactive for five or so rounds in the middle of S14.
I do have a theory of titled 'EKA: The Conspiracy'; but perhaps that is best left for another time - it prominently features GFW guest Wise Guy Sam.
One way I'm focusing on to improve my standing is to create more discussion on the general SFA board; I'm exploring new ways of doing this as I don't really want to re-hash ranking or media threads which others do a great job of; the only problem is that new ideas can often be hit and miss - but I'm sure I'll find something worthwhile over the course of S15!
One of my theories is that you will only get so far in Baghdad. Beez is arguably the most prolific player in the league. It must be hard to step out his shadow and make a name for yourself. Would you be better off at a club say like the Gumbies where you could make ThePuppetMaster a household name rather than be a support act in Baghdad?
I've had that theory put to me by a couple of posters, and while theoretically it might have some merit - it's ignorant of reasons why I came to Baghdad in the first place.
I actually signed with the Hawks for my debut season, before a plea from SKM citing the lack of contributors at Baghdad caused a change of heart (you hearing me Tom Scully?) - I also saw it as an opportunity to help re-build a club with a core group of posters which I now feel (especially with the addition of okey and MP) compares well with all SFA clubs.
(That aspect also appealed to me as I had been building a club in the failed West Gate Trolls bid. RIP)
I'm not sure I'd get the same enjoyment out of posting at the Gumbies (not meant as a pot shot gents) as I do at the Bombers, which is also important.
I'm sure if I and my teammates continue to improve our posting there's more then enough room for a few 'elite' posters at Baghdad.
Well I’m being told by my producer (isn’t that me??) that we need to take a quick break. Stay with us Puppet and don’t go anywhere folks as we start from where we left off right after these messages.
