Rumour Girls on Coke

Then explain why the other incident I mentioned hasn't been reported on.
Minor crime, no clicks generated.

It should be reported but it will be swept under the rug. Sydney's role as an expansion team benefits them, too. First, not in Victoria so escape the footy grind. Second, don't want to bring negative press to the sport up there. Trying to market it as the clean alternative to rugby.

I doubt there is some big conspiracy

How does the news usually get out?

Leak from the police that player X was arrested? Player tells manager / club?

Rumours start to circle, clubs get proactive to control the message

If the police don't recognise them as AFL players and the newspapers court reporters don't recognise them as AFL players when they get there then it is pretty easy for it to get through to the keeper

It would just come down to whether they even told the Swans they got caught

The punishment in the unreported case was more severe than what has been handed down in this now public case. So yeah it actually would've generated clicks, especially as an addendum to yesterday's story... what is the media waiting for?

It's not the AFL's job to reveal these things. It would've already been reported on if the media were paying close attention, there's nothing else to it.

Where was this special treatment for Jess Hosking (i.e. a player the media are actually aware of)? Her drink driving story was widely reported, including on the AFL website, within a day or 2 of the incident and prior to any court appearance.

A story broken by the AFL? Or the AFL media only talked about it when someone else did?

The AFL doesn't break these stories, regardless of whether it's a men's or women's player. Hence your claim of AFLW getting special protection is stupid.

Im pretty sure I saw the Joel Smith story on the AFL site first. Did another org break that story ?
...Has nothing to do with a story like this which is a criminal matter. The AFL (and AFL Media) are not obliged to reveal run-ins with the law, and they never do.

When a player returns a positive in-competition drug test, the AFL has to announce the player's mandatory provisional suspension, regardless of the player's gender.

Hmm a 2-match suspension... same punishment handed down to Jack Ginnivan and Bailey Smith. Except, of course, 2 matches in AFLW is a far greater chunk of the season.

That's some special protection.

The fact that there's no drug policy for AFLW is mind boggling.
There's no illicit drugs policy because they didn't have 12-month contracts until very recently.

Has nothing to do with the drug involved.

A current Swans AFLW player (different to the 2 in the news now) lost her licence recently, and nothing has been reported on it. Probably because the player is not well known and it'll take time to raise eyebrows.

But if it's a reasonably high-profile player by AFLW standards, such as Jess Hosking or Abbey Dowrick, it still makes headlines pretty quickly.
Who the * is Abbey Dowrick?

Who the * is Abbey Dowrick?
Port Adelaide's best player. Probably only known to reasonably close followers of either AFLW or SA (and maybe WA) football.

Not as well known as Jess Hosking (despite being a much better player), which would explain why her indiscretion took a bit longer to break, but still much faster than this one about two fringe players.

"Ginnie" got himself a 2 game suspension for being on COCAINE. Which is I think is what, less than 10% of the season?
Girls get busted doing the same s**t and they get a 2 game suspension which is like 20% of the season.

Is this Collingwood getting their usual discount? Gender Pay Gap at work? Misogyny?

Very sad that girls miss so much of the season but also they deserve it for being drug pigs.
