What’s worse is that the AFL will either just ignore that any of it happened or they will laugh it off and say ‘yeah they were mistakes, sorry.’ And we’re all supposed to just accept it.

Even if the mark was in bounds, you can't wheel and play on out of bounds in front of the mark lol

Well there's been 5 or so of these so far this year, can't tell me this is interpreted differently this year.

Given that he took the mark, wasn't he just playing on and it's fine that he was outside the boundary line?

Players also don't wait for the whistle if it is to their advantage. They know if they are quick enough the whistle may not even get blown if the umps second guesses himself, which they do.

You can't play on ahead of the mark while out of bounds.

If you play on when out of bounds it’s a throw in.
Same as if you are over the mark and out of bounds you can kick over the mark but if you play on it’s a throw in.
