Yeh I don't think they have a Grammy for that.
Fair enough. :thumbsu:

You'd be surprised...the categories increase in # every year and the show gets longer and longer....

And i'd give you the nod YPO; can't be any worse than some the @#$@# that gets up these days.....

- Ahh the thread is working!

Hey Bck2BckCats have you had any involvement in the Colonial Brewery going in down at Cape Schanck?

And if they love the breweries down there we also tour the Yarra Valley which is a great day out too! :D

I have as well.

We were the permit applicants for Colonial Brewery and managed to get Council approval despite a lot of local objection, however the decision has been appealed so we're off to VCAT in July. Fingers crossed it gets up. Its a great spot to drink beer!!

Re: How do you earn a crust - networking thread

Hey! I just finished my bachelor in town planning!

Any chance you can get me a job? :thumbsu:

Throughout highschool and uni I worked in a restaurant as kitchenhand/front of house for 6 years, and also worked at a law firm for about 18 months as an office assistant. I am now in Berlin and living it up on a holiday :)

I don't have many connections (or any actually) in the Berlin Planning industry but if your intending on working in Town Planning in Melbourne I might be able to help :)

Re: How do you earn a crust - networking thread

Hello fellow Catters, I have previously worked as an editor, proofreader, online content creator, feature writer and copywriter. I also spent 6 years running an art gallery. I am currently doing some temp work after recently closing my business. I am very keen to do something different...something challenging perhaps. Something that makes use of my writing skills and organisational skills.

I work as a consultant with an engineering firm, specialising in GIS (Geographic Information Science). So anything to do with digital mapping, digital spatial data manipulation and so forth.

Sadly, I am living in the US at the moment, am married, and so the chances of moving home and earning a motza in the mining industry are limited at best currently! If I am out of job in April, as I suspect may occur when my current project ends, I may have to start looking into that ;)

Interesting thread... Civil Engineer working on a major road project in Melbourne (well there's only one on at the moment so easy to guess) with VicRoads. Look after all the gadgets and gizmos that go on the freeway.

Western Ring Road?

I spend approx 10 hours a week sitting on that "freeway"

Exactly what I deal in/have dealt in, I should ask you about work in Melbourne in that field actually. I work as a manager for a legal company now that deals with various aspects of reports/content/transcripts etc for the District Court but looking to get back in to media again (my first vocation) and had a job interview between Xmas/NY. Also hopefully putting together two pieces for Radio National this year and given a grant.

If the Pies fans did a thread on what jobs they all have it would only go for one page *ZING!*

Electrician, work on mining dump trucks, excavators and other earthmoving equipment.

I wear two hats, I own a natioal training company called Australian Training Enterprises, we deliver workplace training mainly for large companies. And i'm an ordained Pastor, yes I preach, do weddings, funerals etc. But more importantly I've supported Geelong for 50 years.

Well that makes two of us here at least. ;)

Was a civil engineer for ten years, before studying theology and becoming a pastor with the Salvos.

And I'm only 40, so you've got me covered on the length of tenure with the hoops. :)

Another one!!! I am also a civil engineer looking after road construction, but currently I am up in Sydney (Blue Mountains to be exact). Work for a Consultant, so am involved in construction supervision and design.

i run a small sustainability company. Recently audited Kardinia Park actually and will be doing some work on the new stand too.

But we also do solar power in WA, SA and Vic, so if you are thinking of getting solar installed check out our website http://www.sustainabode.com.au and i will do a good deal if you mention bigfooty ;)

how is it you guys call yourselves Pastors (salvo's) when youre either an officer or an envoy, and even more importantly, you refuse to do the 2 things Jesus actually commanded us to do -communion (in rememberence of Him) and Baptism...???
