By 2% FFS (142.9 v 140.8), 17/5 each across the home and away season. We also had the more difficult draw (we squared our contests 1-1 this year)
...oh and we just belted them in a GF in the only game all season we had a full squad (you know we did lose Lake, Gibson, Mitchell and Rioli for 6 plus games)
/end
For a team that just won the premiership you lot are suprisingly insecure and grumpy about needing to argue every point down to the last 2% of how good you are. Apparantly winning the flag isnt enough, you now have to have been better in the H&A too despite finishing lower after those rounds. We beat them in our second home and away clash, and we were in front in the last quarter in our loss up in Sydney with Mitchell, Hodge and Shiels all missing from our midfield (where they smashed us). Baffling how the group think in the media created the perception of us being underdogs.

Sydney had the better team on paper and were considered favourites heading into the game. Its no big deal.
No lots of people thought that. On paper they stack up really well. On paper. Games arent won on paper though.Only absolute deadshits who struggle to think for themselves genuinely believed that.
But the Herald Sun and other ignorant morons will no doubt trot out the same bullshit next year.

some things going against hawthorn with this debate is they had the weekend off and a home prelim.
Crows 97 and Lions 03 didn't have the rest and played the prelim away. Lions 03 had that many injuries and still won by 10 goals against a side who played on the mcg all the time, the pies were heavy favorites with the bookies that day as well. Crows 97 were missing Modra and Ricciuto (was AA that season) and finished outside the top 4.
Absolutely shattered that we beat Geelong (remember the curse?) and earned a home prelim. What a s**t premiership.some things going against hawthorn with this debate is they had the weekend off and a home prelim.

Great post mate ...It would be hard to argue that it wouldn't be the greatest footballing performance in the history of the National competition, and perhaps ever.
For a side faced with so much adversity this current season, with injuries threatening to derail their season, down to the coaches health issues and the pressures of being the current premiers, it would truly be a remarkable achievement, and one which may stand alone as the greatest accomplishment in the history of the game.
As it stands, it will take a monumental effort to knock them off in September considering how well they're travelling with an abundance of stars still on the sidelines and possibly due back by the time september rolls around.
Still clear premiership favorites for mine.
I beg the question. If the Hawks win the 2014 premiership, will it be the greatest of all time?
Lol being one of the sheeple.... I had $50 on the Hawks H2H and and another 50 on them at the line, its just you could see the majority of non Hawks fans predicted a Swans win.Considered favourites, and better team on paper by people like you. We beat Sydney's paper team at the MCG a few weeks ago (probably only missing Hannebery from their top tier) with a team without Lake and Rioli. I'm not arguing who was the best H&A team, I'm pointing out that there was some warning signs that those that considered Sydney favourites may have got carried away with the Buddy frenzy, and their easy win over North. Sydney's better team on paper got exposed, just as it did in round 18. You could tell there was some weird lens being looked through during the narrative when the media were all worried about how the Hawks were going to contain their forward line, with very little talk of how they were going to contain ours, which had been more dangerous and unpredictable throughout the season.
Congrats on being one of the sheeple.
Don't you love Hawthorn? It would be hard to argue that it wouldn't be the greatest footballing performance in the history of the National competition, and perhaps ever.

I don't know about pre-ordained. They still have to turn up to the Grand Final and win. Maybe the Hawks can stop them?
