You've just racked up 30 possessions in a big game - how do you celebrate?

You're 18 and you played your first VFL game. You kick 4, get around the boys and hit the town with your new mates. Do you 'party' or nah?

You've done a long term injury and now you're head of the rehab group. How do you remain 'one of the lads' when your not on the field?

Your 21st birthday is coming up. Do you have a joint party with all your friends or a split party with your 'old school friends' and your ' footy mates'?
Is this the AFLPA using bigfooty to sample the brilliant minds on here to determine just how difficult the work life balance of an AFL players is?

But to answer your questions:

- You have 3 or 4 vodka lime sodas and go home by 1am so you can make it to recovery the next morning
- See the first response
- You maximise your involvement with fellow players in the down time between training. You stay involved and interested in meetings. If it's a LTI most clubs send players away at times and/or put them to use in the coaches box. It's natural to not feel like one of the lads, the important thing is you feel like you still have a purpose so you stay committed to rehab
- You do exactly what everyone else having a 21st does. You pick friends from all walks of your life - work friends, uni friends, high school friends. If you don't think they'll mix well you might have a dinner with one group instead of inviting them to your party if that's your choice

1) get the lads to come out for a few drinks. They all say no. They don't like you. You go home, smash down a goonbag, and cry yourself to sleep

2) you go to the clubs with your new mates, who are all let in straight away (not you though). You wait outside in the line on a cold July night, before finally deciding to return home. You cry yourself to sleep.

3) you buy cocaine and hookers for the boys in their non-training times

4) you invite both groups of mates. No one shows, not even your family. You enjoy the lavish banquet by yourself, before returning home, and crying yourself to sleep

Were you at my 21st?
