Traded Jack Redden (2008-2015)

I'm starting to wonder if Redden is a bit of a downhill skiier. Never thought it before this year but he's really gone missing in our bad losses. Especially early when the game is in the balance.
I'm not sure 15 tackles fits with any definition of a downhill skier. That's the most by any player league-wide this year by the way.

I think it's more that we're probably really reliant on him winning the contested footy. With Simon Black retiring an Moloney in the 2s we have no depth in contested ball winners. Especially with Lester also in the 2s.

Foot problem could end Lion Jack Redden's hot streak

JACK Redden's streak of 112 consecutive games since debut could come to an end, with the Brisbane Lions midfielder suffering a 'hot spot' in his left ankle. Redden posted a photo on social media site Instagram on Monday night with his left foot in a moonboot. He will see a specialist later in the week to determine the extent of the injury, but did not train with his teammates at the Gabba on Tuesday morning. Redden's injury could break one of the great streaks in AFL history. The 23-year-old has not missed a game since his debut against Geelong in round 15, 2009 and has played the fifth most games since debut without missing.

I am curious to know how long Redden has been carrying this injury (if at all). He seemed fine at the end of the game against North with Rockliff jumping all over him but obviously, he was not right. It raises the broader issue of how many of our players play with injuries and niggles from week to week that affect their output and we are oblivious to these issues. Sometimes it is obvious that a player is constrained by injury but Redden's stress fracture was well and truly a left-fielder.

He's probably gotten it from using his left foot so much more than usual lately.

Needs to add some weight to his legs. We should model out midfielders on Fremantle it will help with the contested ball if you have a lower centre of gravity and strength through the hips. All of freos mids have huge legs and thighs which allows them to stand up in a tackle.

What the City?.....

"Here's Jack Redden modelling a nice heritage number,.. The Sail & Anchor Building."

If he can add a bit more size while keeping his improved pace, I'm all for it. Slimmed down a bit for 2014 and was on track for a really good year before he got injured.

He must miss legs days...not good
