Yep but it was much more important to get games in to 30 year old Matthew Broadbent than to give him a crack.
Who we then immediately delisted at the end of the year.

Joel Garner wins the NTFL premiership with St Mary's (against Nightcliff) and was judged BOG, winning the Chaney Medal.

Former Port Magpie Jack Kluske was on his team, while John Butcher was playing for Nightcliff.

I rated Garner.. not saying he would of been an A grade quality player. But he would of played his roll and had a solid career in my opinion.
In today's day and age, with mid season picks and rookies etc etc. - anyone half decent would get picked up by another club pretty quickly.

Chances are, if nobody went for him, he wasn't up to it. He looked handy, but not sure he had much improvement in him, which is likely why he was let go.

One thing I do trust is our list management with regards to letting players go. Very rarely has a player been willingly let go that has gone on to prove our decision wrong.
