Player Watch Lachie Schultz

Dave. Please. 6 tackles. His pressure is what we got him for. The goals will come.

Exactly. You have one lazy forward in there and the pressure isn’t there. Everyone needs to clamp down and he does that.

Lipinski didn't cost us a first and second round pick. Schultz is meant to be elite

There was also the pile on Tom Mitchell, former Brownlow medalist who didn’t live up to Pies fan expectations yet excelled when we needed him the most.

Although by Rd 0 the detractors were back…

Mitchell also didn't cost us a first and second rounder. Mitchell was great from round one and his impact was immediate. Just tired towards the end of the season and picked right back up.

David King’s analysis of Schultz’s game on Fox Footy definitely paints a different picture to what’s been suggested elsewhere.

There’s plenty to like about Lachie and what he brings to our pressure game.
And Nick talking him up after the game. They rate the way he plays for the team, he didn’t have the best looking game on the screen and he probably would be the first to admit he’s got to lift, but it’s a new team some players need some time to work into it.

Hopefully a breakout game comes soon. He clearly delivers great pressure, just needs to get amongst the goals. Would love a 4/5 goal haul in the coming weeks to boost his confidence

Needs to be given time but, Harvey Harrison is also breathing down his neck and looking for an opportunity as well. Good problem to have.

You sense Lachie will continue to improve, we need him to bob up for a goal or two each week. What we can't have is for him to continue going halves of footy with no touches.

Has had tough opposition , bad enough for the entire Collingwood team but a baptism of fire for a new recruit.

FWIW, he's always had a tendency to go missing disposal wise and have quiter games. But you can never fault his intensity or workrate.
Not surprised by his start for you guys, played a lot of meh games for us, but every 4 or 5 weeks he'd kick a bag.

He was getting a bit more of the ball for us, maybe that's because you hold your forwards a bit better than we do? Hope he does well for you, he's great to watch when he's on and seems like a ripper bloke!

Bigfooty wrote off Lipinski as a dud as well, so we know how hard it is for players from other clubs to win over the faithful.
Lipinski is still regarded as a bit suspect and is always in the short list of players nominated on here for omission or to be the sub. The major criticism of Schultz is that he is not worth a potential top 10 draft pick, so ultimately judgement made on him will be heavily influenced by where we finish on the ladder. Lipinski is not a player we'd have wanted to pay for with a first round pick either, top 10 or otherwise.

What impressed me most was the constant effort. The repeat effort for little reward is why it will turn.
Couldn’t care less about goals. His defensive side is a massive upside already.

Looks like he’s struggling to adapt to the game plan and is rushing/ caught out of position.

Freo basically played the opposite style to us. Slow and stagnate.
So it’s easy to understand where he is at.

He doesn’t need a breakout game. Just do the defensive stuff.
