Re: Poker News 2008

Go Joe - don't let those yanks push us around! :)

Couldn't ink to this directly so I've just pasted the article in. It's from the www.pokernews.com reporting of the EPT.

Hachem Snaps
Amongst some incredible commotion on the tournament floor, Joe Hachem has just lost a monster pot and almost became involved in a physical confrontation with T6 Poker player Woody Deck!

We caught the action in the hand on the river with the board reading and Hachem with an 80,000-chip bet into opponent Peter Traply. Traply thought for a few moments before making the call, showing which was good to collect the pot worth over 200,000 chips. Hachem calmly tapped the table, saying "Nice call" as he proceeded to muck his hand.

That's when the real action started. Woody Deck, who was not involved in the hand, then asked to see Hachem's cards. Hachem replied that he didn't have to show since the winning hand had already been shown, and the dealer proceeded to muck his cards.

Deck then said to Hachem something along the lines of, "Are you trying to angle shoot or something? Don't be an arsehole!"

Hachem, who at this stage was standing up to walk away from the table, then turned and in an incredible outburst, leaned across the table over Deck with a barrage of intimidating replies!

Hachem appeared set to physically take Deck apart before Antonio Esfandiari lept up from a nearby table and held Hachem back. By this stage security had stepped between Hachem and the table until things calmed down. Hachem then took a walk outside to cool off as the crowd frenzy settled down and play returned to some normality.

I think everyone else will struggle now that Annie Duke and Phil Gordon are back playing WPT events.

Re: Poker News 2008

That'd suck. Having momentum, making the FT, and then having to go back to reality for four months. Helps the TV broadcast, but who gives a s**t about that?

and how good was the help and support on PNW :thumbsu:

reading through HH, he got 65m to 3m HU, then it got back to 45m to 23m. 3-handed talk of a deal for about 156k, with the win he got $193k.

sick last hand, they both flopped a flush!

$193,339.20 for a $215 investment, even less if he sat. in. $200 ____ing thousand, how sick! 6856 ____ing players!

I see his live tournament winnings at Crown amount to $133!

he copped some flak over at 2p2 for not taking the deal. 156k plus 30k for the winner, 3 handed.

more flak for asking for a 164k deal. if other players agree to a deal where he could win more than 1st, that's their problem.

Re: Poker News 2008

Just for something to talk about, what would you do if you won $200,000 in the Stars Sunday Million. For me:

Pay off mortgage
Investments
Brand new car for me
Brand new car for Mum
Add to poker roll

That would cover it.

Money aside for rest of university. say $15000
Established poker roll (about $10,000)
Investments ($100000)
Car ($30000)
Rest on a holiday and a chance to splash cash on myself and family.

Plus a few beers...

Re: Poker News 2008

20k would stay online.
invest 100k.
buy a car with 30k
then use 50k to be ballin' out of control.

Re: Poker News 2008

Go overseas
Drink
Gamble

This reminds me of George Best (the great soccer player) who when asked what he did with all the money he earnt from soccer said.

"I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered."

Re: Poker News 2008

From one of the latest PokerNews videos, Mike Sexton considered retiring from WPT commentary due to the arrival on his new child this coming August, but decided to stay on. I'm guessing he may consider leaving WPT in 12 months time.

So I go check his age. He's turning 61 in a few months! Go gramps! "Dad, how come you so old?"

Re: Poker News 2008

Thought I'd let you guys know an amazing bit of news...yer nah, I know sh^t all. I wanted to say though, I am suprissed at the info I have been reading in a lot of your old posts I've been going through. I should be studying, but have just been reading poker news all day - I thought it would all be mostly boring reads, but its been a friggin day long soapie!... I love it.

Also, from what I gather, most of you seem to be against tournaments, why?...do you all mostly play/prefer cash games, again, if so why? Just want to get a bit of insight

Re: Poker News 2008

Re: Poker News 2008

Poker show on SEN 1116 Melbourne.

(NB: for those of you outside Victoria, you can stream it live)

http://www.pokernetwork.com/news/index.cfm?News_ID=188

In conjunction with Crocmedia, Bluff Australasia is thrilled to announce that the first edition of the Bluff Poker Show will be aired on Melbourne radio station SEN 1116 AM – Australia's only 24-hour sport radio station – from this Tuesday evening / Wednesday morning. The Bluff Poker Show will air each week from midnight to 1am

Bluff Australasia editor-in-chief Sean Callander said the agenda for the Bluff Poker Show will be set by the audience.

For the first three weeks, the Bluff Poker Show will report directly from the 2008 World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Interviews have already been lined-up with the biggest names in poker.

It is also proposed to broadcast the show from major local events such as the APPT Grand Final in Sydney and the Aussies Millions in Melbourne.

The Bluff Poker Show will look at what’s happening on the local scene with wraps-ups from casinos and pub poker competitions around the country. There’ll also be some great prizes and competitions (including the opportunity to play in some exclusive Bluff Poker Show tournaments).
