If its Birdbet, I think he had Lions as favourites last year, so I wouldn't read too much into that. Unpredictable with the Suns and what their endeavour will be in this comp, will it be the same as the Lions or completely different. Time will tell
Interesting that he has Hornets favourite for wooden spoon - could well be the case.

You are down playing Labradors chances by the sounds of it.Flying under the radar as they say.You will be very hard to beat this year.

Don't know how they have been under the radar, do they actually have any home grown boys playing for them at all this year.
IMO Mt Gravatt - Redlands and Southport will be the pace setters this season.

I see Aspley went down to Scorpions 1 yesterday in the 20/20 Cup...anyone know what Aspley's team was like??.. Even if it was their reserves team it would be a bit humbling surely....?

Any reason Copeland didn't play last week end. After the last 2 years he has produced at Aspley you would think he would be keen to be up and running or is he just after the pay packet? He should have been dropped to 2s last year

good on him.

gws should be playing in the vfl. not this league.

Probably, but Sydney have been trying to get their reserves into a better league for years, so that had to be accomodated along with the suspicion from H/O that the rubber band had broke on the northern junior pathway programmes.

So hence the NEAFL.

it's not probably. they should be. these kids a geering up for the afl next year and they want to be prepared for the real thing. the vfl is the next step up to the afl. The NEAFL is a second fiddle comp. if sydney ressies wanted to play their fringe players in a better league. they should have kept sending them to port melbourne

Good on him, certainly GWS are building a pathway from the state league clubs to the AFL.

Will the clubs have the balls to sack Francis and Lake as coach if they do not produce a flag.Redlands recruited huge this year as in past years and Vultures always have the best list ( on paper anyway ).
If Aspley start season off slowly, will the pressure be on once again to find a new coach

Thats part of the problem. A couple of bad weeks and people gunning for the coach. It played out a bit like a soap opera last year at Aspley when the coach stepped down/sacked whatever.

The most likely way that a club will be as successful as it can be is for everyone associated with the club to support the coach. Undermine the coach and it makes it harder to win footy games-simple.

If they don't work out then sure do what you need to do at the end of the season.

I think Southport probably usually have the stronger list than Mt Gravatt- and are definitely the best resourced.

Pretty much all clubs have high expectations on their performance this year-and if they don't, they ought to. Pressure on all the coaches.

Probably injuries and whoever can win the close games will probably do well in what looks to be an even comp.

Good to read the ex Mayne players getting a mention amongst the best in their games, especially Caleb Brown.Well done boys wish them the best.

Has PHC had any practice games? If so how have the mighty Mayne Tigers gone? Will they go ok this year?
Think they had a praccy match against Magpies yesterday, haven't heard any result yet.
Well they lost a few good players which will affect them, but seemed to have recruited reasonably well a couple of ex Grange players Luke Faulkner's brother from tassie and another bloke from Tassie and some promising youngsters from the 18's. So fingers crossed the Tigers will improve as much as they can.

Anyone know what happened in the practice matches on the weekend. Did the 2 x 20 min half games still go ahead with the torrential rain?

Really not much to report on those matches.

40 minutes in extreme wet, half your matches against U18 squads? Don't think teams got too much out of it to be honest.

i don't think many teams would have taken much out of the 2 weekends. 2 games against Scorpion squads and playing 20 minute halves. isn't a really good barometer for up coming season. there will be some interest in any games this weekend though.if there are any games on this weekend

Lions ( all listed players are playing as they had to have last week end off ) playing Aspley.Morningside and NT in Foxtel cup ( venue and time changing by the minute.Poor AFL don't want ground torn up ).

If not at the Gabba, any idea where Morningside and NT wil be playing as yet? Presumably should be somewhere can still be TV coverage given supposed to be on Foxtel later that afternoon, or is the coverage at risk now as well if the game being moved away from the Gabba as the surface cant cope with 2 games in one day!!!

Don't think it will change because of TV.

According to the AFL website it's been moved to Adelaide.
