Let's be honest though Silvagni isn't looking top 50 let alone 2nd round. He should end up being a bargain pick up.

Rice will be interesting.

SOSOS is doing just fine for a player who is only draftable this year by a few weeks.
If he was 2 weeks younger we would be frothing on how he is an awesome prospect for next year and a possible first rounder.

If we draft him we would probably not see too much of him at the club as he will be completing Y12.

Which is why we should draft him this year to get him cheaper ;)
Agree there is little chance he won't be on the Carton list in next years draft, so why not grab him cheap in this years draft.

This year is a so called shallow draft so can't really loss, plus an extra year of development, plus we have a SOS on the list again. Win, win, win

So if Silvagni is looking like pick 50+, then why are we so frothing for him other than his name?

Nothing to back this up but Silvagni may well be a Buckley for Carlton
No-one really rated him but the kid has put in just so much to make good.

Nothing to qualify this either but Jack doesn't come across a a loafer and would obviously be keen to not let down his dad/family name.
For a later pick, I'd welcome him with open arms..................and he is rather cute also.

Been keeping an eye on the BF Phantom Draft. Not taking it as gospel, but provided some food for thought.

Rice went at pick #46 and Silvagni not taken yet into the 60s.

IF that transpired, we could pick up Rice with our 4th round (pick 58) and Silvagni could be taken at the end of the draft...

Neither are assured to star at senior level, but I reckon they look more than the goods for our last two picks. Add in three high-ish picks and hopefully we come away with a strong crop....

You'd think the younger ones would have an advantage over Jack.

- they have grown up kicking the footy/wrestling with the older Jack, plus will see him go through the trainings, diet etc
-the media hysteria will be greatly reduced
-hopefully we will be higher on the ladder and there is less need for a saviour

As for Jack, the fact that hes young for his year, been limited to school footy until recently (APS is so overrated it's a joke, ACC is its equal) and that his dad has stopped feeding him 2 days before a game to limit his output should see him make big improvements.

What is he, a greyhound? Hopefully Jo showed the kids some love.

At any rate, both you and jj1978 have a point. Not to mention the youngest Selwood being the best of the lot. Yep, we got ourselves a bonafide father/son coming our way in 5 years.
