So it seems after hearing Gil mcglaughlin on game day that we will be getting a pp , he said we have a very strong case to receive one and for me this is the afl trying to soften the backlash from the other clubs when we are awarded one .

So , are you happy with this ?
Do you think it will be a 1 pick , or end of first rounder pick
What should we do with it?
I wouldn't say no to an early pick but I am a little embarrassed that we are still at the stage of needing picks

I would rather get Paul Roos as coach with high quality Assistants than another pick

Other clubs will have pain in the rectum but who cares really? They can build a bridge. I'm loving the amount of hate we are garnering being a basket case and I cannot wait too see what happens when we actually start pushing for top 4.

Seriously though if anyone has needed the pick in th last 15 years it's us , more than our 08 09 teams that's for sure

yes i am happy to see us gettin another priority pick but i can see why opposition supporters are a little outraged.
it does seem a bit silly that we are getting rewarded from developing players badly but the AFL has a protocol and at the moment it is in our favour so i'm happy to go with it, but can understand the outrage of opposition supporters.
 
If we push/make finals in 3-5 years unfortunately for me our resurgence would feel a little tainted with all this assistance. I know we need it, but it's a bit generous.

500k fine which we receive 6 times that back 6 months later. Then rewarded with a pp the year after, hmm :S

Having said that, I'm not going to argue with supporting a successful club for a change, I'd rather just see us build the momentum rather than have it handed to us.
 
The only thing that makes me kind of want this PP is that we're going to ****ing need it to compete with GC/GWS when they hit their straps.

1. **** that man, this competition is NOT fair. Small clubs need a hand every now and then.

2. I maybe incorrect I'm sure someone will tell me, has Carlton paid off their fines from the salary cap cheating?

Nah, we'd love it. If they're daft enough to give us a pick we'll take it. If in 5 years we're playing deep into finals and actually a genuine shout of winning the thing, I'm not going to give one. Other fans will be bitter and get stuck into us over it - I'll happily tell them we're hoping for another priority pick to go with the Premiership.

I'd have no problems with a PP.

- Do Sydney fans have a problem with their CoLA?
- Do Brisbane fans have a problem with their concessions re. their hat-trick of premierships?
- Will GC/GWS have a problem with their concessions when they win premierships over the next decade?

Feel we will gain a PP (Pick 1) should our poor results continue. Meaning Pick 1 and 2 in the draft.

Pick 1 - James Aish (SA – Mid/Def) Height: 183cm, Weight: 74kg, Norwood. Style: Trent Cotchin

Pick 2 - Matt Scharenberg (SA – Def/Util) Height: 190cm, Weight: 89kg, Glenelg. Style: Nat Fyfe

Would look at Thomas Boyd (VIC – KPF) if Watts departs and M Clark can not get back to 100%
Could trade Pick 2 for an elite mid if Frawley signs a long term contract.

Be great if Watts/Frawley re sign asap so the recuiting department has heaps of time to meet the team requirements next year and beyond.

We'd get pick 1 and 3 assuming we don't lose to GWS.

We take the two best available mids IMO.

At the moment, Scharenberg is a bit too inconsistent with his footskills for me to be happy taking him (as a utility) top 3.
 
Would you say Dunstan is the second best mid, TPM?

If we do get a PP before the first round I'd actually consider trading one of them. Given the massive demand for Tom Boyd we'd be able to get considerable overs for the pick I reckon, in the form of an established midfielder or two. There's no point just drafting young mids if we don't have the capacity to develop them, and those experienced players play a large role in that, I reckon. Similar to what Dawes and Clark have done.

It's up for debate - but yeah, I think he is.

Will know more when I watch the next few games.
 
I wouldnt be that happy about getting a priority pick in the top 10, it just wouldn't feel right at all, but if it happened I'd still say f' everyone else. I'd be happy if they gave us an end of first round priority pick, I think the teams wouldn't complain too much in that case.

The argument that we don't deserve a pp as we were punished earlier this year doesn't hold water.

Carlton received at least one priority pick (Kruezer) after they were penalised for salary cap breaches.
 
I think we will get a PP so either picks 1,2 or 1,3. Aish and a trade would be a fantastic result I imagine.
