MFC: Pre-season update: Davis to Jones

44. Rohan Bail
Ro has had a really good pre-season. He’s completed just about all of the sessions and his running has been at a very high level – he’s been up the front of the pack. He has really set himself up for 2013.

Sounds promising.

He and Trenners just couldn't get out of 2nd gear last year. I think he'll be more than handy now he's fully fit.

MFC: Bail out after knocks

MELBOURNE has decided to remove utility Rohan Bail from contact drills for six weeks after he twice suffered concussion within 10 days early in the year.

The 24-year-old is three weeks into the extended lay-off from contact work after consultations between Melbourne medical staff, Bail and neurosurgeon Gavin Davis found a conservative approach would give him the best chance to recover from his knocks.

Sounds like a common sense precautionary measure but I hope it doesn't turn into a recurring issue for the lad.

The Age: Bail's low-key return lifts Dees
Confronted with a potentially career-ending problem after playing just 36 AFL games, Bail, 24, spent four weeks sidelined last season due to concussion. But more disturbing was his recent six-week enforced lay-off after two head knocks at training.

But after an extended stint out of contact work, Bail has received the green light on the health front and been declared fit to resume in the VFL at the weekend.

While Melbourne would welcome the return of a consistent 2012 performer immediately after its thrashing in the opening round, Bail's lack of match conditioning means he will return via the club's VFL affiliate, Casey.

''It's been a long process and we've consulted a lot of specialists, involved our medical staff and Rohan himself - we're pleased to say that he's ready to play competitive footy,'' Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said after Bail had completed two weeks of contested work.

''What we've seen is that Rohan is not scared of getting hit … that gives you confidence that he's ready to play.''
And playing well by the sounds of things, too. We need him back...
