NFL Rookies Slow To Sign This Year

Thanks Sven, interesting to see that three of the five lowest picks yet to sign are from USC. Wonder if they have the same agent 'wink wink'.

(The three players were also three of the four highest drafted USC players this draft with Charles Brown at 64)

Trent Williams now signed for the Skins.

just 10 to go now....

2. Detroit Lions - Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
6. Seattle Seahawks - Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
9. Buffalo Bills - C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson
10. Jacksonville Jaguars - Tyson Alualu, DT, Cal
12. San Diego Chargers - Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno State
14. Seattle Seahawks - Earl Thomas, S, Texas
21. Cincinnati Bengals - Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
26. Arizona Cardinals - Dan Williams, NT, Tennessee
31. Indianapolis Colts - Jerry Hughes, DE, TCU
43. Baltimore Ravens - Sergio Kindle, LB, Texas

Tyson Alualu will want to hurry up and sign to be part of the Oklahoma drill tomorrow our time. Vince Manuwai is waiting for him - they come from the same neighbourhood in Honolulu.

Apparently there's a worrying numbers game going on at the Lions in regards to Ndamukong Suh. Eugene Parker (Michael Crabtree's agent) is representing Suh and so far #1 pick Sam Bradford has got $50 million guaranteed and #3 pick Gerald McCoy $35 million guaranteed.

Logic would say that Suh would get somewhere near the middle of these two numbers guaranteed, which is $42.5 million. The only problem with that is that would give Suh more guaranteed money than the Lions #1 pick last year Matthew Stafford.

The question is whether or not the Lions will want to give a DT more guaranteed money than their franchise QB.

Thats what they get for sitting and taking Suh instead of trading down or justifying $42m guaranteed with a LT pick instead.
Rookie salary cap surely on the cards if the NFLPA pulls their finger out, cos the NFLPA represents veteran players, and im sure they'll be wanting a rookie salary cap.

I think everyone but the agents and the college players want a rookie wage scale. I am quite annoyed that the Rams pretty much have to bend over and pay some player $50 million dollars to do nothing. On top of Jason Smith and Chris Long, that would be around $100 million dollars wasted.

(there is already a rookie 'salary cap' - the term rookie pool might be more familiar. Hence why Crabtree couldn't just sit out and get traded last season - if he did, a team would have to sign him with the renaming rookie pool funds they would have which would amount to nothing.) Sorry GG, had to point that out :p

Why you apologizing every time you point something out?

Plus you know what i mean anyway.

What sounds better?

Sorry, you are wrong.
You are wrong.

And what relevance does this have to football or greedy agents? :p

I've discussed the problems with Suh's contract previously.

Apparently the problem with Okung's contract is the length of contract, with players drafted before Okung agreeing to 6 year contracts, and all after him agreeing to 5 year contracts.

C.J. Spiller's agent apparently wants a premium base on the fact that Spiller is a running back, and the first "skill position" player taken after Bradford. This kind of situation rarely leads to an early resolution.

Kindle is expected to sign a contract once the small issue of his fractured skull is sorted out.
