Huge game here where arch rivals the Gumbies and Hawks square up in a possible finals preview. The Hawks are in pole position and will remain there with a win, while the Gumbies are going to finish third and take the double chance. A win to Geelong (and a win to the Furies) would see these sides come together again a week later in a Qualifying Final.
The Hawks have been in excellent form all season long, and their thumping of the second placed Furies in round 19 was a testament to that. Kegs44 has been giving the East Side on ballers first use of the pill all year, and it will take a monster effort from Gumbies ruckman grantyc77 to counter him. Both teams got a good spread of goal kickers in their matches last week, so the onus will be on the defenses to clamp down and restrict as many of these options as possible. In particular, both teams have dominant FF's, with YOTC heading the goalkicking and bagging a mammoth 9 goals against the Bombers, and Hairy Cat Mooney sitting second on the goal kicking table.
Geelong's move of Portentous up forward and Fugsy down back have proved a masterstroke, with portentous being in the Gumbies best couple in the last 2 matches, while Fugsy gave Roys key forward MasterofRoc a football lesson at FB last week. He will be hoping to repeat the dose against the prolific YOTC. The mid fields are evenly matched, with both having several player capable of taking over a game (see Gilbert Hodge in the second term last week) and the quality of disposal will be a telling factor.
The Gumbies have shown excellent form for the most part over the last 6 weeks, however, the Hawks have been in the top 2 all year, and should take out what ought to be a knife edge encounter.
Teams to be in by 9PM Friday.
