After spending the first three rounds of the season on the roads, the Hawks play their first home game of the season against North Melbourne on a Saturday afternoon in April.
The Hawks were outclassed against the Suns last weekend up on the Gold Coast and need to bounce back quickly against North Melbourne, who were somewhat fortunate to beat the Lions by a point in their most recent game. The Lions had 31 scoring shots but only kicked nine goals (9.21.75), while the Kangaroos managed only 16 scoring shots but made the most of them by kicking 12.4.76.
North Melbourne has enjoyed a winning start to the season, having defeated the Bullants by 39 points in their first game, Carlton by 16 points in their second and then squeaking past the Lions last weekend.
The Hawks didn't have much of the ball against the Suns, having just 303 possessions for the game compared to 421 by the Suns, while the Suns doubled the number of marks taken - 150 to 75. The Suns won the inside-50 count pretty handily, racking up 51 inside 50s to 40 by Box Hill.
Former Collingwood player Callum Brown had 28 disposals for Box Hill in the game, but (consistent with the team statistics) the Suns dominated the major ball-winners, led by Rory Atkins with 37 disposals, James Tsitas with 27, and then Harry Sullivan, Joel Jeffrey and Brandon Ellis each with 25 disposals for the game. It wasn't a good game for Ned Reeves as he was forced out of it at half-time thanks to a head knock that put him into the concussion protocols for the second half of the game, and therefore puts him in danger of missing this week.
Box Hill are likely to miss Josh Bennetts for this game after he was put into concussion protocols following the loss to the Suns last weekend when he hit his head while being caught in a "dangerous tackle" (according to Box Hill Hawks coach Zane Littlejohn). There is also a chance that Box Hill will be looking to replace Harry Morrison, who caught the eye against the Suns with 21 disposals, seven tackles and five clearances, putting him in the frame for a promotion to the senior side.
