By popular demand, the Rising Star award is back for Season 37. Frederico_WA has passed the torch to the next generation of second year players and we've seen your concerns about the viability of this award. This season, we're shedding the fat and taking it back to its roots - finding the best first year qooty players in the Sweet FA.

In a brand new format, we'll be ditching the weekly nomination tradition and instead reviewing the performances of rookies at the end of each calendar month. Three players will receive nominations at the end of each month, for a total of twelve candidates for the Rising Star Award. Make no mistake, this is no participation medal.

We've recognised that part of the reason why this award became difficult to manage was trying to recognise every facet of a rookie's performance. With the EKA Medal already covering off-field contributions, the nominations and awarding of the S37 Rising Star award will be on the basis of qooty performances only.

At the end of the season, we'll invite our nominated rookies and respected guests to the annual Rising Star awards ceremony and crown the latest winner of the Rising Star Award. They will join this select group of outstanding rookie qootballers:
