Season six, and what a season it was for the SFA’s sixth installment into history. It was almost ten years ago to this day, and we still have players from that era running around to this day such as Mobbenfuhrer who just celebrated his 300th, Broken, Fred, Roylion, Frankston Rover, cats2rise or whatever his new username is,Ljp86, Van_Power sante, and I am sure I have missed several others!

It was a 12 team competition, constructing of: Las Vegas Bears, Fighting Furies, Alberton Swamprats, Geelong Gumbies, Seventh Wonders, Bigfooty Bombers, East Side Hawks, Mount Buller Demons, Titons, Dragons, Koalas and of course the Roys FFC.

At the halfway mark of the 22 round season, we saw the Fighting Furies leading the race for the minor premiership, closely follows by the Titans, and then came the Roys, Swamprats, Koalas and Gumbies one game short of the top two teams. The Bears and the Wonders rounded out the bottom two of the top eight while the Demons, Bombers, Hawks and Dragons closed out the ladder. At this stage four teams had been hit by premiership point demotions and they were the Dragons (surprise surprise The Filth Wizard
;)), the Bombers, the Koalas and the Gumbies.

At the end of the 22 rounds, it was the Wonders, Swamprats, Furies and Bombers rounding out the top four, with the Roys, Hawks, Bears and Koalas finalizing the top eight who would be playing finals. For the other four teams, the Titans, Dragons, Gumbies and Demons it was so close but yet so far.

As the finals started, the first qualifying final between the Seventh Wonders and the Bigfooty Bombers saw the incredibly accurate 16.1 – 97 Wonders defeat the incredibly inaccurate 13.11 – 89 Bombers to jump right into the deep end of the finals.

The first elimination final between the Roys and the Koalas saw a hard fought contest for the first couple of quarters before the Roys managed to pull ahead and run away with the game, finishing up with a 17.15 – 117 to 13.17 – 95 victory.

The second qualifying final saw the Swamprats just manage to edge out the Furies with a 18.15 – 123 to 17.10 – 112 victory.

The second elimination final saw the Hawks bow out in shocking form, being rolled by 33 points at the hands of the Bears. The Hawks 13.16 – 94 inaccurate score to the Bears 19.13 – 127 accurate score could be blamed for their loss.

The semifinals were now up and it was time to see who would be playing off for a spot in the big grand finale of season 6. The Furies and the Bears kicked us off for the first game and what a game it was with the bears edging the Furies out by a sly 9 point margin, consecutive small margins ending the Furies finals run. Final scores: 15.11 – 101 to 17.8 – 110.

It was now time for the Roys to shine with their game against the Bombers, however when it rains it pours as it did for the Roys who said adios to the finals series with a 27 point defeat at the hands of the Bombers. Final scores: 11.13 – 79 to 7.10 – 52.

In what was a high-scoring first preliminary final, the Wonders were knocked out of the Finals run and the Bears slotted straight into it with a 21.14 – 140 to 13.8 – 86 victory.

The second preliminary final was also high scoring as the Swamprats crushed the Bombers 20.10 – 130 to 11.10 – 76 giving themselves a finals berth against the Bears.

The Grand Final was finally upon us. It was the Swamprats who had lost the previous year’s big one up against the Bears who were ready to take home the premiership cup. It would come down to whoever was hungrier for such a prestigious award.
At the end of the first quarter everyone thought the Bears were home, being ahead 40 to 7 at quarter time, however a new life was brought into the Swamprats who came bounding out after quarter time kicking the first three goals before the Bears could steady the ship, the scores situated at 27-46. Another goal to the Swamprats and shared sprayed shots to both teams saw the half time score sitting firmly at: 34-48, we had a game on our hands. A barrage of points was seen to open the third quarter before the Swampies managed to slot one through, bringing the margin back to a solidarity kick, however Dipper managed to kick one through for the Bears to try and drag them home. Moments later Total Power fired back for the Swampies and Crazy_big_al missed a shot to put the Bears ahead by just 5 points, then out of nowhere Big Al had another shot and this time he kicked truly putting the Swamprats ahead as the premiership quarter grew towards a close. Right on the siren Rocco Jones sprayed a momentum shot for the Bears and the scores were even right on the buzzer. The first ten minutes of the final quarter saw the score shoot back and forth as the game shifted in momentum, however after this time the Swamprats began to surge ahead, kicking out to a 20 point lead before the Bears missed three consecutive shots and the siren rang out across the ground. The Swamprats had finally won after the horror of season five, they were Premiers with a final score line of: 14.11 – 95 to 11.12 – 78. Total Power won the best on ground honors with a 21 kicks, 10 tackles and 3 goals 2 game.

A very deserving Mobbs Medal winner for Season Six was also of course: JIMMY_C8 from the Koalas!

It must be disappointing for newbies thinking the Wonders play at Wonderland and Brooke Satchwell is their #1 ticket holder only to find out they play at The Colosseum and their #1 ticket holder is lioness.

I've said this a million times. We ain't newbies anymore. Like to think of myself more of a 5 game veteran now.

Must explain why you're so slow.

It must be disappointing for Bandits players knowing that they have to play alongside you each and every week.

Anyone playing alongside me looks instantly better by virtue of my shocking Qooty ability. Try again.

Red makes you look ugly.

No it doesn't. I'm just as handsome as always, even more so in Red.

So what bought you back to lolwonders? Were you slain over in the battle of the egos?

Nah I have an addiction to winning premierships.

Once you get your first taste you'll know what I mean...oh who am I kidding, that's not going to happen.

Oh it'll not only happen, but it will become the norm... The Bandits will become the greatest team in the history of the game and I'll be right there enjoying the ride

I highly doubt it. Your track record for success is quite amusing.

Seems to be much excitement around this game...

Who plays for the Wonders these days?? Better yet, who is the captain now?
There's no degree of Bacon that can ever link Bandits with "excitement"
