Great post. Will let people weigh up all of their options.

    Just a couple of errors:
-Channel 7 (or 7mate) will not show all four games LIVE in VIC/SA/WA
-FOOTY PLAY on T-Box is the exact same as the one on Xbox and will therefore only also show 8 games per round LIVE. Foxtel does not have broadcast rights to the LIVE Seven feed for its IPTV services. All they can legally do is rebroadcast what 7 is showing. As Channel 7 is broadcasting the Saturday afternoon game on a 90 minute delay in Melbourne, this is also when it will be shown on Foxtel IPTV. As Foxtel have to take the 7 FTA feed, this means that for these games you will also get advertisements after each goal.

There is more info available about IPTV broadcast blackouts here:
    http://www.foxtel.com.au/whats-on/blackout/default.htm

PLEASE NOTE that what is mentioned above regarding Foxtel ONLY concerns the T-Box and Xbox services. Subscribers to the traditional satellite/cable Foxtel platform will have access the FOX FOOTY Channel and will receive all 9 games LIVE each week, uninterrupted siren to siren, as well as all the other bells and whistles.

    Just to clarify.
For Victorian FTA viewers, 3 games will be live.
The Saturday afternoon game will be on a 60-90 min delay on Seven.

Im told that Footy broadcast on tbox is slighjtly different to the one on xbox. The xbox operation cant get the rights to the Telstra broadcast game (the 9th game), the tbox can since this was specifically part of its bid. This may not necessarily be part of the AFL Play offering, but is being included in the sports package.

Wookie, in the Telstra mobile section you have stated it is included for free for Foxtel from Telstra customers - is that for new and existing customers or new customers only?

That I couldnt honestly tell you, however from everything ive read its applicable to this offer for new telstra supplied foxtel customers, although it be a case for existing that you may need to upgrade to the Sports Value Pack if you dont already have it.

For all those in the UK, looks like there are some issues with liveafl.tv . Not sure what sort of coverage we are going to get this season.

yeah I started to do the international stuff and then realised its all over the place so i left it at liveafl.tv and even that Im not sure of. Im told ESPN probably wont cover it any more, and the status of US and canadian broadcasts is uncertain.

Yeah, liveafl.tv redirects to livesport.tv and on this, there is no mention at all that AFL will be covered in 2012.

There are plenty of ex-pats I know that have subscribed to the liveafl.tv channel and as of today, there is not a single content piece available (even past games and news pieces).

I have asked for a refund if coverage has gone for good.

ESPN is a massive worry as well. No real mention of coverage on ESPN.co.uk

Looks like with all the domestic coverage changes, the international coverage (at least outside of Asia) is pretty awful, leading us to look at other avenues

If they had half a brain the AFL and Telstra would extend AFL live coverage to the internet outside of Australia

    FOXTEL pricing is partially correct.

Get Started + Sport is $61 per month (without iQ).
Get Started + Sport + iQHD + HD is $81 per month.

Worth asking if there's any special offers to sign up, you might get it a bit cheaper!:)

They did try this about 4 years ago I think. It was absolute rubbish. The stream was pausing, buffering, etc. Killed the viewing of the game completely.

The Foxtel website is a joke.

I wanted to sign up for the xbox pack, im already a XBL gold member
But the foxtel site constantly freezes up on the last payment bit  been trying for days but it still isnt fixed.....would've been better if you could register straight through your xbox.

Love the no lock in contract idea for this.

http://www.afl.livesport.tv/home are showing all nine games each round live!

*(This was changed on the 16th of March)

This is open to anyone outside of Australia and New Zealand.

UK pass price for one year is £64.99. Streaming is very good, and quality is very good as well.

And in regards to TV in the UK and Europe, ESPN UK has coverage again, but FOUR games each week instead of 2 or 3 like last year.

United Kingdom & Ireland - ESPN provides AFL fans in the UK and Ireland access to live and exclusive coverage of four matches every week of the home and away season, finals series matches and the Toyota AFL Grand Final, plus the action-packed weekly highlights program.
