All the Pierce Brosnan movies have aged terribly, Goldeneye included.

Casino Royale streets ahead of anything else in the modern era.

Agree with your comments about Bronson's films, except for GoldenEye, it is still one of the most enjoyable Bond films.

Think Goldeneye is fondly remembered by many because it is really the last of the 'Cold War' Bonds (plus the video game).

GoldenEye is highly rated because it has a great villain, and a plot that pretty nicely hits the 'semi-plausible fantasy' tone of the franchise. You really have to go back to the Connery films to find something that works as well.

Casino Royale is great but it completely lacks the fun that you sort of expect in a Bond film.
