IMO, Bill used to be a fantastic commentator. He clearly went downhill and started making a lot of mistakes and silly comments before he was moved on. Thats not to say that the current commentators are any good. I enjoyed watching the cricket at the ground without any interference from commentators.

Well Lawary keeps it interesting

Dhoni was always going to retire after the Sydney test, pretty much common knowledge.

He's probably retired tonight to avoid another suspension for slow over rates.:drunk:

and let Kholi to stir Trouble Up

Just in regards to the slow over rates, I think the umpires have to step in a bit more and take some control. Batsmen are having a drink at the end of each over pretty much. On Day 2, the first drinks break was after 9 overs play. 45 minutes. Thats ridiculous. The amount of time that is wasted during the day is a joke. They used to bowl 8 ball overs and managed to get through as many overs just fine. I can't recall the Indian batsman the other day, but he was getting ice treatment on his arm at the end of each over. Not on IMO. Retire Hurt or get on with it.

Really winds me up too this topic. Even between balls the bowlers stand around with hands on hips, just get back and bowl the thing. The bowlers can have a drink while resting at fine leg. Changing of gloves every 5 overs, seriously harden up!

Any interest in the ODI series? Probably not I'm guessing. Although it was good to see Glen Maxwell finally play a reasonably mature innings.

Except for that Terrible shot he played to get out on

Interesting. I for one will be pissed if he doesn't make a return. I'm not really on the Steve Smith hype bandwagon, he's in amazing form yes, which is almost certainly going to not continue for much longer (possibly due to bowlers figuring out how to exploit his unorthodox batting). Then he'll go back to being hopefully a better player than he was previously, without being the omnipresent force he currently is. We'll be left with a decent all-rounder who doesn't bowl and captain's like Ricky Ponting.

Clarke's gotta play the Ashes IMO, he's as much a part of turning around the side as Lehmann, and if Rogers is being given that opportunity then by god Clarke should be. He can retire from Test cricket after that and go make a truckload in the IPL.

Hey poms, suffer in ya jocks

Concur. Although the ending was a sham. How 3 International Umpires can totally balls up a simple decision like they has got me stuffed. Didn't change the reslut of the game, but probably robbed Taylor of a 100. Total kindergarten stuff

and We thought AFL Umps where Idiots

I'd love to see it, but I don't think they'll drop Watson. Bailey will make way for Clarke. They still get a few overs out of Watson

The Selectors love Watson and Shown they won’t drop him. Like Blair last season for us with Bucks

That's the thing though, sure Bailey didn't have a dominant performance but he stood up where it counted along with Finch today. Would be ludicrous to drop him and keep someone who before this game was in equally poor form, yet Watson continued his bad form with a duck. Bailey is as much a match-winner as Watson ever was.

I'm a Watson fan, even if he's been absolutely dreadful for a while now, but he has to make way until he can find consistency again. Probably the last thing he wanted was a good performance from Mitch Marsh, because considering there are two other capable all-rounders in Smith and Maxwell in the side, the fact that Watson is an 'all-rounder' is a moot point, we don't need it. He's in at number 3 to bat and he isn't batting well, so his position is now untenable.

I'm not a fan at all, but I think he'll keep his spot. Go figure:p

As speedytiger said, he still has a pretty good ODI record. And we have Bangladesh next, so he'll be primed;)

The problem with Watson is where they are batting him, he's not a number 3, heck he's not a number 4 or 5 either, he's actually a bowling all rounder now, so should be batting around Haddin in the order, not amongst the specialist batsman. We can win the world cup even with him in the side, but if Clarke and Faulkner get fit I'd like to see WAtson out, because Mitch Marsh is showing he has a massive future, well a bigger one then Twatto anyway.

Thats probably fair enough. Faulkner, Watson and Marsh can't all play imo, so Watto is the first of those out the door at the moment. No doubt he'll come out and make a soft 100 somewhere to keep the wolves at bay though.
