I agree he has been excellent but once again it is not beyond the realms of possibility the Americans choose to invest in a depay, ronaldo, reus. Bale type, to add competition for one of the front three spots.

If so, mata would be in competition with the captian, that lvg has stated he will not be dropping. The price tag of di maria alone will mean he will be getting a shot at some stage.

You then have the existing squad players and loan players, that will add further competition. To say mata is untouchable is not correct. More so, when you look at the last transfer window and take into account anything could happen. If DDG is not sold, I would argue only rooney and DDG are the first names on the team sheet.

For example; next season depending on the form of rojo, smalling, jones. Even hummels won't be a certain to play each week.

This Ronaldo, Reus, Bale stuff is pie in the sky. United for as big as they are now second tier behind clubs like Barcelona, Real, Bayern, Chelsea, City etc...

They have no chance at getting any of those three. Bale and Ronaldo are already at the pinnacle of world football, so they wont willingly leave Real Madrid. Reus will be coveted by all the big boys so United wont have a chance.

The likes of Bale, Pogba & co will only join United if they pay silly money. Bale will join Bayern, City or Chelsea. Pogba is off to Chelsea or Real. Jod us right in saying United are a significant step down from those clubs.
 
A lot of Liverpool fans in here making statements on matters nobody can be sure of.
United can compete financially with anyone.

Nobody knows if the top echelon players will come to OT in the summer.

Given that Utd managed to sign one of the best performing players in world football last season when we couldn't offer them immediate UCL football leads me to believe that most players are happy to play here.

It's all a bit of a mute point until the window closes though.

Because we've had one s**t season? FWIW Ronaldo has actually said he'd like to play for us again plenty of times FFS, it won't happen but to suggest it's impossible is just ridiculous.

United can compete financially with anyone and you're kidding yourself if you think we're not a desirable club. Manchester United is the biggest sporting club in the world in terms of brand recognition and supporter base, it's crazy to suggest one s**t season destroys that reputation. It's even crazier to suggest it when we've managed to sign one of the worlds most in form players without the lure of Champions League football. Jesus Christ, I know you love under rating Manchester United but this is just insane.

At the end of the day we can compete financially with anyone, we still have a huge reputation in the game, we have a manager who is well respected within the game and we've already proven that we can sign top end talent. It's crazy that this is even being discussed.

Sorry for derailing things a bit Jatz but I've said everything I need to say on the matter.

Not compared to City and Chelsea. Havent won the title now in past two years. Both years without SAF. Didnt compete in the CL in one of those. SAF is gone. It's a new United. One that will not be as successful.

Even United will feel the monetary power of Chelsea and City now. Just like the rest of us do.

I love the stench of self entitlement the minute United come back to being slightly relevant.

Im not sure any of their fans understand the SAF factor. From the outside looking in, players coming to England know they have a better chance to win the league going to City or Chelsea than they do United.

But hey according to United fans they are going to buy Bale, Pogba and Reus and Ronaldo is also returning.
