I don't even know what the grounds or what law they would necessarily bring proceedings under. I've seen some suggested that are pretty fanciful.

The whole thing could be as simple as it costs the players nothing so just go for it, nothing to lose.

Does a media conference after the deadline mean its more or less likely their appealing?

I think more so as their going to explain what their appealing against.

Average time for an appeal to be fully finalized is actually 6 months from time award issued (so 5 months from now), look at my previous posts I posted two separate sources that state this. This includes 30 days after the Swiss court for "a right of reply" So on average we will know 4 months from today. The Swiss court is known for its speed.

The research paper link also highlights its normally its a doc only appeal, no hearing.

They are all heroes. The AFL should cast 33 more 2012 Brownlow medals and hand them out.

This appeal is the dumbest thing possible. The insurer EFC and AFL are doing to show a future lawsuit that they did everything possible - so the players dont deserve extra compensation beyond the salaries they shouldnt have received.

The players wont win and get no benefit from it. They really need better advisers. And have done since they first signed those consent forms.

Except for what little respect and sympathy that everyone outside of the efc cult has for them. Grown men taking 0 responsibility for their actions have lead to the general public going from being sympathetic towards the players to fed up with them.

If the players are pushing for a quick hearing, and will reportedly explore all avenues for an extraordinary early hearing....why did they wait until the deadline to lodge their appeal??

1 obvious reason I think is they were unsure on who would be funding the appeal, As soon as the players weren't going too it become much easier to make a decision.

Why should they, it's a discussion board on an important football topic, especially those who like clean sport. Be alot of people who don't care about politics either and just get on with their lives too but it's still important.
