Collingwood ended 2012 in 4th place and look to re-capture the form that took them to the 2010 premiership.
Nathan Buckley stays on as head coach however Rodney Eade has left the club and will be replaced with Gerald McCline. The Pies expect McCline, a former drill sergeant for the Australian army, to straighten the Magpies more "free spirits" up with arduous training sessions.
One of Gerald's many roles will be to take former Demon Liam Jurrah under his wing. The Pies recruited Jurrah in the rookie draft, deciding his talents were to hard to waste, suggesting he would add depth to an already impressive lists that adds Quintan Lynch, Clinton Young, Jordan Russell plus many highly rated juniors to its list. The Pies added Ben Hudson (not VFL guys) to add some depth in the ruck area and to help young Witts and Grundy through.
This season promises to be a good one!
(I thought I'd do one since it seems fun. I'll be played on legend with extreme injuries on 5 minute quarters.)

Match Summery: The Bombers were red hot early. They kicked the first four goals of the game and it took the Pies until the last seconds of the first quarter to get a goal through some Steele Sidebottom magic, setting up new Pie Lynch for his first.

The second quarter was when the Pies hit back. It was a scrappy quarter but Collingwood had the better and a great boundary goal from Krakour and a running outside bomb from just inside 50 from Young gave Collingwood a slight edge at half time.

The Bombers continued to try and work their way back into the game but the Pies had them on lock down. They were finding it hard to score and the Pies through some more Sidebottom magic started to really pull away. 2 goals in a minute from Lynch really set the Pies alight and they took in a very handy lead to the final break.

The Pies applied the throttle here and Brent Maccaffer came into his own in this quarter. The Pie kicked 4 goals to become the leading goal kicker for the game despite being unsighted for the first three quarters. The Pies peppered the goals for most of the quarter and blew the final margin out to 52 points. The Bombers simply ran out of steam.

The win was dampened by news that Jarryd Blair would miss two games with calf soreness.

This was meant to be a pretty simple win for Collingwood against North at the MCG and early it looked scary. Lynch goaled off the ground and Swan dominated early and got himself a goal. However, Collingwood were inaccurate and poor marking from Toovey allowed Lindsay Thomas to slot home North's first.

The second quarter was a struggle. Clinton Young goal from a set shot and Alex Fasolo showed up for one. Brady Rawlings (out of retirement for some ******* reason) kicked a goal from a nothing free kick and the Roos were still in the game on the scoreboard.

The third quarter was one nobody will ever watch again. The rain came and slowed down play and both sides were missing easy shots. There was no goal scored for the quarter but the Pies, despite playing poorly, looked certain winners on the scoreboard ...

But don't go anywhere ... it's not over yet.

Travis Cloke was actually playing (I could swear he wasn't) and kicked his first goal from outside 50 to give the Pies a 22 point lead. The Roos then rallied through Petrie and Matt Campbell (obviously re-rookied or something) to TIE the game with 5.49 left. The unlikeliest put the Pies back ahead when Ben Reid stormed from CHB back to kick a long, long point but Luke Ball took the ball from a clearance soon after to put the Pies a kick + ahead and Brent Maccaffer showed up in junk time for the second straight week to kick his only goal ... Bucks also forgot to give Didak a run despite about 8 players being sore. It was very strange.

Toovey and Pendlebury will both miss the next two games.

Anything can happen in these games. It was proven when Carlton played their two only decent games against Collingwood last season. This game was old man Malthouses first game coaching against Collingwood and there were certainly fireworks early. The sides traded the first two goals apiece before Dale Thomas began to really get on top in the middle. The Pies took a 16 point lead into the first break.

The second quarter saw the Pies strangle Carlton and the goals begin to flow. Maccaffer continued his surprising form with a few goals and Dale Thomas continued to rack the ball up in the middle. Cloke was moved to full forward and Dayne Beams was returning to form, absolutely dominating the clearances. The Pies lead went over 40 just before half time and this game was basically over. The Pies were fired up and the Blues were worrying about 2014 since beating Collingwood would have been their grand final this season.

Cloke began to monster the insanely overrated Jamison and whoever was pretending to play on the likes of Swan, Maccaffer, Beams and Thomas was kidding themselves. The big Q stick was also have a game and the ever realiable Luke Ball kicked probably the most awesome running goal a guy who can't run or kick would ever kick (LOL St.Kilda are you ******* serious?) The Pies blew this out to over ten goals and the Blues supporters were throwing their souvlakis at their new coach who hadn't gotten them a win yet.

The last quarter was a LOL fest with the Magpies feasting on this VFL quality side. Lynch kicked his third and Cloke was roving packs in front of Visy Judd. Thomas was clearing the ball at will and Ben Sinclair was running into open goals. The Blues got a cheap consolation goal (Harry O the only loser of his position) and got to sing the song for only losing by 99 points. It was a cake walk for Collingwood on this day.

The Doggies were considered a very strong possibility for the wooden spoon. However, they had started with a bang this season and they started here with a bang aswell. Jarrad Grant has suddenly become a good player and he kicked the first three goals of the game, leading Nathan Brown all over the ground. The Doggies were dominant in the first quarter and it took Collingwood until after the siren to register their first goal - through Travis Cloke.

The second quarter was a tight affair. Robert Murphy was playing forward and causing issues while Collingwood began to win some ball out of the middle. There was some magic from Krakouer and Lynch kicked his first but the Dogs held firm to take a 13 point lead into the half time break and an upset looked a real possibility.

Collingwood kicked the first goal seconds into the third through flashback Alan Didak goal from outside 50. However, the Dogs responded with two quick goals and the margin was back to 19 point points and the Dogs looked steady. It was time for Cloke and Krakouer to turn it oin and they kicked 20 goals each to give the Pies the lead and when Lynch kicked his 2nd it was a 10 point difference. However, again the Kennel hit back and kicked the last two goals of the quarter and lead into the three quarter time break.

The Pies broke the Doggies in the last. They kicked the first four goals of the quarter through Cloke x2, Krakouer and Thomas was electric again along half forward. They lead by 21 points before the Dogs kicked a consolation goal to reduce the gap to 15 points. It was Collingwood who took the points though ... despite being pushed by the hungry Dogs.

The Lions came into this game playing some good footy while the Pies were undefeated yet inconsistent. The Lions kicked the first two and look dangerous while the Pies were scrappy in the middle. They were missing Beams (whom was a late withdrawal with Goldsack coming back in) but were able to find a goal through Lynch at full forward. Brisbane answered back quickly to take a 12 point lead into quarter time and Collingwood walked into a complete pasting from their coach.

The second quarter started off well for the Pies, scoring from a holding the ball decision. The Lions quickly hit back only for moments later to watch Goldsack sink a lovely running goal. The Lions then went on the hunt and pushed the margin out to sixteen points through goals to Cornelius and Jonathan Brown. The Lions big forwards seemed to br troubling Collingwood and Old Man Black was killing Swan in the middle. The Lions stuffed up a kick out and allowed Clinton Young to intercept and kick a nice goal and the Q Stick kicked one with 3 seconds left in the quarter to reduce the margin back to 4 points ... the tide starting to turn.

The 3rd quarter has been Collingwood's strongest this season and today was no different. They smashed Brisbane in this quarter. It started with Swan goaling from a free kick with a 50 metre bomb followed by Cloke outmarking Patful and goaling from inside the square. Clinton Young kicked his second after a lovely piece of work from Blair and Brisbane's heads dropped. Lynch and Maccaffer both score gift goals and Alex Fasolo slammed home two within a minute to turn a 4 point deficit into a 40 point match winning lead at 3/4 time.

Michael Voss left the game 5 minutes into the quarter. Cloke and Lynch absolutely killed Brisbane in this final term; it was actually really funny. The two big forwards seemed to be having a contest on who could kick more goals and both ended up kicking 6 each while Maxwell cleared the ball off half back and the wing at will. It was an absolutely dominant quarter from Collingwood until some random Brisbane player kicked their only goal for the half with about five seconds left.
