Any chance of a Banfield debut if McGrath is still not 100% ? Sounds like he's playing off the HBF in reserves. Here's one hoping he will be our 2009 Dalziell.

He gets a pretty regular mention in the Lions Reserves thread if you want to take a look.

Seems to be improving all the time and finishing the year off strongly. His pace has impressed a lot of people and I get the feeling another preseason could really help him push for a spot next year.

Looking at Banfield's stats, it is interesting to see that he kicked 15 goals in his first 11 games, but then only 2 goals in his last 7 games.

Edit: some more stats

... spent his 09 in the AFLQ, averaging 18 disposals and 5 marks per match

Played more of a midfield road later in the season once blokes like Harding, Redden and Hawksley became senior regulars.

need a few quicker players that can rotate from forward to middle. Hopefully Banfield can get a few games next year. Its promising when the club does a list clean out and your name is still on the list, even though you haven't played a game yet.

Such a pity he was not prepared to put any effort in at the gym. His lack of physical development over the year is very disappointing.

LOL. I need to not do what he's apparently not doing! ;)

Seriously though, that's a heap of size in the upper body for 1 year. Hope he keeps working on his thighs otherwise his center of gravity is going to be off and will get knocked over easily.

Someones got to say it but that can't be a natural 12 month improvement.....

Sure it can. 12 months is a long time, especially when it's possible that his body is still growing.

That amount of size is very easy to put on in 12 months. During the off-season dieticians usually load the players up with creatine (4 week cycles) and pump bucketloads of protein into them. Once pre-season starts they will start to shed a bit of size, which is largely water retention.

Guys it has probally been over a 3 year time frame and he is now starting to really put the weight on. It wouldn't have been 12 months!

The pics weevil posted show a 12 month timeframe.

Nothing suspicious about it though.

You miss my point TBD. It can take people 2 to 3 years before they start to putting on weight. I know that is a 12 month time period but doesn't mean he has bulked up that much because of the weights he has done in that 12 month time period! It could have been from before as well. You see what im saying?

I've seen some of my friends bulk up more then this in under 9 months. Lots of supplements and food required. Obviously he has not got to cutting yet and will loose some of his bulk before season start.
