In light of Sheean relasing his top 50 for the coming season I thought I would start a thread for BF posters to make their own prediction. I have followed his lead and taken out injured players - Walker, Tippett, Goodes, Nic Nat, Judd, Steven, Swallow, Clark, Christensen and Waters.

It is not what they have done in the past but this is what I think by years end will be the best 50 players.

Harry Taylor at 45 and no Scott Thompson are the two things that I found surprising. Apart from the Brissy bias.

Karl Langdon's top 50:
1. GARY ABLETT (GC)- Is one of the most skilled players I have seen, runs all day, reads the play magnificently and kicks goals from anywhere.

2. SCOTT PENDLEBURY (Coll)- Has elevated himself to the elite class, is a tall midfielder, highly talented in all areas of the game and now captain of his club.

3. NATHAN FYFE (Fre)- One of the most exciting players in the game today, an elite runner and is all class in the air, will take a mark of the year contender in 2014.

4. PATRICK DANGERFIELD (Adel)- Has explosive pace, great balance and kicks a high volume of goals for the mix of positions that he plays.

5. JOBE WATSON (Ess)- Is one of the top few handballers in the game, is efficient by foot as well, scores in most games and has excellent endurance.

6. JOEL SELWOOD (Geel)- Is all guts, leads his team by example, kicks goals, tackles and wins more free kicks than anyone in the game.

7. DANE SWAN (Coll)- Has been a model of consistency for a few seasons now and does not look to be showing any signs of slowing down, reads the play well and scores heavily for a midfielder.

8. STEVE JOHNSON (Geel)- Is a player full of football smarts, he is always doing the unexpected acts, as skillful as any who have played the game.

9. BRENDON GODDARD (Ess)- Tall, can play anywhere and comes off a sensational year where his club was under extreme pressure. He showed courageous leadership for others to follow.

Poor? It is like he put the top 200 players in a hat and drew them out. Ryan O'Keefe is only getting a game beacuse of injury, not even the most bias essendon support would have Stanton in the top 20 - would actually be suprised to see him in a top 50, Priddis at 23??? Matthew Boyd at 26? - maybe 5 years ago.

This is a woeful list.

I'd agree that those are all shocking. Stanton tends to be underrated but he's not even close to top 20. Boyd and Priddis above Roughead and Taylor is mind boggling.

Goddard 9? What is this 2010?? Fyfe, Stanton, Scott Selwood, Boyd, Bennell all too high or shouldn't even be on the list in Boyd's case. Not a good effort.

9. BRENDON GODDARD (Ess)- Tall, can play anywhere and comes off a sensational year where his club was under extreme pressure. He showed courageous leadership for others to follow.
