UEFA Champions League R16: First Leg

Sarcasm?
To be fair, the 1st week games had the right decisions.
And on the 2nd week, one could justify Gala-Chelsea over Schalke-Real.

But Olympiacos-United over Zenit-Dortmund?
Only 2 reasons I can justify that is 'the weather is better to relax in, in Greece' and 'visas are too hard for Russia'. Nothing about football, all about the production companies comfort and expenses, so neither reasons are worthy. ****ing SBS going Olympiacos-United rather than Zenit-Dortmund >.<
Nope. No sarcasm. It's good to see the English game alive and well (even if I'd love for the other 3 to be knocked out) when you have the usual dickheads running around saying how the Premier League is falling behind etc. Wenger even got involved last season saying the rest of European Football has caught up. Ridiculous comments.

Don't really see why it's a ridiculous comment.
He was portraying Arsenal's failings as part of a wider malaise in English Football.

United have been one of the best performed teams in Europe for a while now. City are on the up and we won the damn thing 2 years ago. Their's no cause for concern as far as I can tell.

Its a stupid thing that happens every year, commentators say the league is too strong/too weak depending on how 4 teams go in a knockout competition.

When United played Chelsea in final everyone was talking about how to stop England. Then it kneejerked the other way and if a couple make the semis it will kneejerked the other way again.

Or the possibility that United are simply far more popular in Australia than either Zenit or Dortmund? (not to mention the size of Melbourne's Greek community and therefore the Australian interest in Olympiacos).

Ockham's Razor.

Aren't the Russian games on uber early as well because of the time zone difference?

Your win was sheer luck though.

English Football isn't as dominant as it used to be. Liverpool haven't been in the CL for however long, it's the first time City have made it out of the group stage and who knows if United will even be there next season.
every side that wins it has luck. there were years where chelsea were the best team and they didn't win it because of 'luck'.
s**t happens. goes your way or it doesn't.

at least they've won one anyway.

******* lol. Yeah. Beating Napoli, Benfica, Barcelona and Bayern is sheer luck. Face it, that sheer luck bullshit is the argument of people who didn't want Chelsea to win. There's been thousands and thousands of cases in sport where the underdog put in extra effort and rose to the top. Sheer luck my ass. We had a s**t season in the PL granted, but any team with a firing Lampard, Terry, Cole, Cech and Drogba is a threat.

Plus when you think about all the near misses we had. Monaco in 04, Liverpool in 05 and 07, Man United in 08 and Barca in 09.

We deserved that trophy like nobody else.

You won on penalties after a 0-0 draw......

So if Bayern won they would've been lucky winners too?

Oh congratulations. You can copy and paste. NO s**t we were the defending team. No one's disputing that mate. You can't call it luck when you beat 4 fantastic teams in a row. Luck can only get you so far. Deny that and you're either a hater or an idiot.
