Buckleys Latest Hamstring Strain

Buckleys Right Hamstring Strain

Buckleys Right Hamstring Strain - 18 July 2007

My first post of note will be on the great man and skipper of the Collingwood Football Club Nathan Buckley.

Just been announced (18 July 2007) that Bucks has done another hammy, but its his right one this time. Not surprised that he has again broken down but disappointed.

Its pretty obvious he's up against it to ever play again. The hammy strains have been back related, hence why he’s done both the right one (now) and left one (Id estimate five times this year) !

Apparently he did the strain on Monday (16 July 2007). He hasnt got through a full training session wit the main squad since sometime in January at a guess, if you continually break down before even graduating to full training sessions, any hopes of getting back on the park are realisticly close to zero.

I think he was planning on graduating to full training this week. Before this latest hammy strain all ive seen from him was a few runs through at last Weds session (11 July 2007) on ten news.

The writing has been on the wall for months, I was disappointed then but have moved on to an extent, the latest incident was close to inevitable !

Theres's no reason for bucks to retire at this stage - the team simply gets on with playing and bucks gets on with his rehab, probably wont play but there is no downside to continuing his rehab till our seasons over (in around 7 to 11 weeks).

Hoping for the best in Bucks upcoming rehab, a hell of a lot of work to do before he can even think about playing again.

Bucks is the greatest I’ve ever seen but time stops for no man and the pies have to, need to and will push on.

Re: Buckleys Latest Hamstring Strain

IMO, Bucks needs to either accept that this season is over for him, and focus on getting right for next season, or sad to say it but hang up the boots.

Geelong fans calling for a home final

Kardinia Park Finals

Its complete nonsesne the Geelong fans calling for a final at Kardina Park.

Finals are neutral games where the AFL decides the venue.

The AFL have rightfully agreed to allow interstate teams to play finals at the most suitable venue in their home state (ie Telstra Stadium in Sydney) when they finish higher up the ladder than their opponent but this does not imply that Geelong have any right or expectation that the AFL should fixture Geelong Finals at Kardina Park.

The MCG and Telstra Dome are just up the road and clearly both superior venues for the Finals than Kardinia Park.

Geelong supporters, pull your heads' in !

I've got no probs with this if the game is against a low Melbourne drawing interstate team like Power of Freo. As long as people aren't going to miss out on the game due to the reduced crowd capacity.

In these circumstances why not given them the game at KP, maybe the Vic teams can make the most of some home ground advantage and get an easier ride to the Prelims. Who knows if this happens we may end up with the Premiership Cup back in Victoria.

What is the capacity of Shell Stadium? Is it about 30,000? Remember a final of recent times between Kangas and Power at Telstra Dome that prob would have struggled to pull a crowd of that number.

Lonie has something to offer Collingwood, bring him back in ASAP !

Anthony Rocca

The Collingwood army have crucified Rocca over his performance against Geelong.

He was coming back after a two week break and the delivery was completely sub standard.

Im looking for and expecting a big bag from Anth on the weekend, lets see he goes second time up !

Unfounded Speculation on Nathan Buckley

To the clown Ari on the main board who yesterday (18 July 2007) suggested bucks would be retiring immediately

Generally agree, but there were a few of us footsoldiers from said Magpie Militia who already said precisely this on other threads. But yes yee of little faith.

Surely you are having a joke here? He has played about 1 maybe 2 very good games for the year. The rest has been totally nothing games.

Josh Fraser

He's played a heap of decent and solid games, with the dearth of ruckman performing highly in 2007 he'd be right up there at the minute !

Collingwood 2008 Thoughts

Clarke needs to be upgraded to the main list for 2008.

Wellingham needs to be upgraded to the main list for 2008.

Nicholls will not be with Collingwood in 2008.

Davies will not be with Collingwood in 2008.

McCaffer will not be with Collingwood in 2008.

Preseason Prediction for Collingwood in 2007

8/11/06 9:58am
Subject: Collingwood 2007

Exciting times ahead, back to back finals appearances definitely on the cards.

Looking for Pendles to come on as the inside midfielder.

Thomas to build on his very solid 2006.

Cloke to come on as CHF and Rusling to come on as third forward, covering for the loss of the frustrating and underperforming Tarrant.

Rocca to cement FF.

Medhurst to add a bit to our forward and midfield mix.

O'Brien to cement a spot across HB.

H Shaw to cement a spot in the midfield.

Drafts picks 8 and 10 to debut and make an impact (like Thomas in 2006).

Maccafer

Let me assure you he's been very underwhelming, would be very surprised if he's retained.
As much as I hate to say it, Cook's under a lot more pressure. Two years at the club and yet to break through for a senior game.
