Valerie Ah Chee, mother of Brendon and Callum has been nominated by her eldest son Jordan as Barnardos mother of the year.

Rumour has it Valerie Ah Chee has had one Sunday off in the past few years – but only by default. Every other day of every other weekend the proud indigenous mum of six sport-loving boys is behind the wheel of the family car ferrying her sons to footy games, and cheering them on at the sideline. Her sons, ranging from 6 to 24 years, know their mum is their biggest supporter. She was nominated for Barnardos Mother of the Year by her eldest son, Jordan, 24, in gratitude for helping them all to achieve their goals.
