Roast We need to talk about Lachie

Needs to work on his hands. Good physical attributes but unless you're a genius, I don't think it's great to have someone without a well defined role. He's not clean enough to play in defence so i'm guessing he should probably be playing as a pressure forward in the SPP mould. SPP has excellent hands and vision though.

Crying out to be settled down as a halfback for good.

Moving him here, there and everywhere like he’s Paul Stewart ain’t it
You guys are both searching for a role at AFL level that a fumbly player with poor skills can play. The problem is there isn't one.

Not a new problem. I wrote this before the season started
"He'd want to get a hell of a lot cleaner if he is going to play midfield. Or anywhere for that matter. Currently over rated as you can't be a modern player if your not 1 take. "
We'd all like to see Lachie make it as he has shown some good traits.
But this one is a deal breaker. It's not a skill you should still be developing if youre on an AFL list.
You shouldn't be on one

All the same criticisms were levelled at SPP. He'll come good.
SPP showed more in literally his first game of AFL football than Jones has shown in three years. Jones isn't fit to tie SPP's boots.

SPP showed promise early and then had a big dip in form for a long time which resulted in many people on this board calling for him to be traded.

Jones has been on the list for 2 years.

And even during that period he was twice the player Jones is now.

SPP's lowest ever non-sub affected average disposals per game was 16.6. His lowest ever average tackles per game was 3.4. Lachie is going at 9.3 disposals and 1 tackle per game. Even at SPP's worst, they're not even in the same ballpark as footballers.

SPP's two lowest disposal seasons were in 2022 (16.6) and his lowest in 2021 was in (13.7). He spent 58 per cent of game time up forward in 2021 (the rest as a midfielder), and 88 per cent of his games up forward in 2022.. Lachie would have been lucky to spend 2% of his gametime as a midfielder. You can't compare then on disposals, and probably not even on tackles.

Also what you refer to as SPP's worst, in 2022, was regarded by many as one of his best seasons. So much for disposals....

Are you referring to this year's sub rules or including the medical sub rules? Lachie has played his whole 23 games under 'sub' rules if you include medical subs so how can you compare that to SPP's lowest ever non-sub disposals (which were actually played under medical sub rules)?

Yep, Lachie has his issues. He is certainly too fumbly. Three of his biggest issues however are that he has only played a sporadic 23 of a possible 51 games, many of those games he has been getting over injuries and he is currently being played out of position.
Possibly some games in the magpies would do him good, or maybe he should be played strictly as a HBF for the Power. However your comparison with SPP on stats (given the amount of time SPP has played as a midfielder), and given Lachie's injuries, are ridiculous.

Both Jones boys omitted.

His hands are like night and day from what they were, he was so clean tonight from a player who looked like he didn't have it in him.

Full credit to him for his improvement, he's an absolute beast.
I think that sometimes in here there’s an element of who’s going to be the first person to write someone off and be proven to be correct and knowledgeable.

That was a high pressure game and he came out of it looking the part.
