Has to be the way the Saints are playing and looking deeper the way they are building their list !
Recent Recruits :
Huge wraps for Josh Bruce and always thought he looked a natural forward ( he was and is ) but he is exceeding all expectations .
Seems like an interesting fella and love the way he goes about it , has the x-factor and work ethic to be a big time player .
Savage , took a little while to get going but looks a steal now with his driving run , agility and long penetrating kick . Gun !
Membrey was a very good get and is the perfect 3rd tall for the Saints . His best is yet to come but like what he provides ..
Hickey and Longer give you 2 very good young rucks to continue developing , another 2 big ticks .
Mav Weller , the kind of player every younger team needs . A bulldog with genuine want who works hard and doesn't mind doing the dirty work and 1% ers.
Roberton has been solid and offers nice flexibility in his ability to play back or a little further up the ground . A good intercept mark and link man , still only 24 .
Shenton has been more than serviceable as well and offers a little more physicality but similar flexibilty to Roberton . Good depth player who thoroughly deserves a spot on the list .
Draftees :
Great duo of electric small forward / midfielders with excellent goal sense in Billings and Lonie . Minchington offers something also .
Newnes is rising big time this year , Luke Dunstan will be a beast plus Wright and Saunders are all very good mid sized players . Seb Ross also .
Webster is a great fit down back and his sure hands and elite kicking are a big plus .
Acres and McKenzie are still young but i like what i see .
Then you have McCartin and Goddard to develop and this team is genuinely building something .
All of their mature players are playing with 100 % team first mentality and providing an excellent platform for the younger players to build from .
I have always been pretty tough on Riewoldt but he garners more respect with each game he plays and his goal kicking is at career best from over the last 2 years
