what about the other 3/4 & the 2 other games? he is more up & down than a yoyo at the moment.

This is what I've said, about him still having to take the next step. You can't expect too much, just yet. It'll happen in time.
He's a great player, but not one who's a premiership player, just yet. Give another season.

Hey? Theres a difference between gun and premiership player, isn't there? Every bus has passengers. Alessio is a good example last year. A premiership player isn't necessarily a good player (in relative terms). Either way, Blacky WILL be both by the end of his career!!

Glad to hear it. Actually the reason I ask is I admire him as a player & it is very unlike him to play as poorly as he has.

The boy is being tagged out of existance on the field. The only way he will get any respite is if the rest of the on-ballers take up the slack and take the pressure off him and give the opposition taggers someone else to worry about. It's going to take time for him to learn to deal with the extra pressures of being a main play maker on the field.
Simon Black and Micheal Voss have been THE prime movers in the midfield for us and the two of them (to a lesser extent Voss due to his strength) have been tagged and scragged out ot the game.
Gotta give this bloke some space to move. Gotta give this bloke the message that his future is at the Brisbane Lions or I feel we will lose him to his home state.
Keep the encouragement up.

Denno, you miss my point.
What I mean by "premiership player", is someone who is of a calibre to step up to win important games on every occasion. Someone, who you could say on paper, would fit in, in a premiership side.
Looking at our list and performances from last season, you could probably only fit a few players into Essendon's squad last year. M.Voss, C.Scott, N.Lappin, C.Johnson, L.Power, D.White . . . S.Hart and A.Lynch had good seasons, but even they would be sitting on the bench. S.Black would be borderline, although he was a good player, in 2000.
Going on this season's performances, I'd say that list has already reduced. Certainly, I would say S.Black would be struggling to make senior selection - he'd be fighting it out for form in the 2's.
Compare this to Carlton. I'm sure you could have half of their side, easily fitting into Essendon's.
Bradley, Koutoufides, Camporeale, McKay, Whitnall, Allan, Silvagni, M.Lappin, Rice. They are all pretty much definites, and the list goes on . . .
Speaking of Rice, I'm pretty hungry at the moment . . . I'll be back in a few . . .

Good point about the tagging. My heart skipped a beat when I read today about Simons comments about 'wanting to play for the Weagles". I know it was his childhood ambition, but now?
The last thing we need is ANOTHER quality player leaving after players like Hilton & O'Bree starring with their new clubs.
