I umpire a game at Killarney Vale Football Club yesterday and saw an AMAZING stat.

Mick Smith kick 232 goals in one season in 1996 (or was it 1986?)

Which leads me to think....

Is this the best effort in any NSW league?

I know there is ONE better in Victoria country where a fella kicked 249 goals.

wow if that is true that means he averaged over 11 per game for a 20 game season phenomenal effort but hard to believe
 
Yeah, Mick Smith did kick 232 in 1986. Apparently the full back who played on him in the grand final that year kept him to 10 goals and got best on ground!

Equal third on that list is Matt Smith from Cowra Blues in Central West FL, kicked 213 in 2006, with 196 in home and away, including 35 against Orange, and 27 against Orange as well. Averaged 13 a game, and didn't kick less than 10 in a game. 213 included finals and reps (only one game v Northern Riverina FL) An incredible effort.
 
Apparently Ruscuklic, in the year he kicked the least goals of the three years he played at Trumper Park, broke his jaw mid way through the season, and still kicked 193. Amazing.
 
Good stats - great to see Morrie Goolagong in there, an icon of the BDAFL. Still going and playing firsts for St George - I watched him playing next to Dugmore yesterday. Older and bigger but strong - kicked 2 or 3 goals
 
Ruscuklic in the top ten 3 times, was it Sydney top grade? Even if it wasn't doesn't matter what league you're in that's an amazing effort!

East Sydney used to run a raffle - 200 tickets numbered from 100 to 300 .
The winning ticket was the combined points score for both teams at final siren .
If you got ticket 300 , you could virtually claim your winnings there and then .
 
in the late 80.s Peter Gibbons kicked 180 goals for Brocklesby in the Hume football league and Darryl Jordon 156 for Walbundrie in the same year.
 
Darryl Jordon also kicked 170 and 150 goals in other seasons at Walbundrie. He kicked over 100 goals on eleven occassions for a career tally of some 1500 goals.He was a sensational full forward.

Also take into account that the upper murray league had only a 15 game season due to only 5 clubs in the comp back then. He missed many games due to a chronic achilles problem.I did some rough maths and as a result, I figured he played in approx. 210 games, thus averaged some 8 goals plus per game over 16 seasons..... Now that average would be just about the best going around over a long term career.
I played for Walbundrie in 1988 and 1989, along side Dobber (as was his nickname), and I tell you he was just so good it wasnt funny.In my days I played beside and against some top notch full forwards,and I rank Graham Bland as a great, but Jordan was even better. The only one better then Jordon, was Trevor Sutton....he was just a freak.

Saddens me to report that Matt Smith passed away suddenly over the weekend, leaving a wife and two young children. I understand that his funeral will be held on Friday at West Wyalong. Matt also played in the Cardiff 2002 premiership side. A top bloke taken way too soon.

That's tragic news. Was only asking about his whereabouts last week.
 
Aaron Purcell for Jerilderie has finished the 2013 H & A season with 211 goals. He had bags of 25 and 23 goals in a match.
