Just onebloke got tickets much?
I hope this is the case - I really want to see Betts finish his career with us - and i don't think he's entirely over the hill yet - I suspect he'll rise to the occasion especially if we are seen as flag contenders. Given the whole Gibbs=2 x 1st rounders, and more recently the Stocker Trade, I'm not so sure Adelaide will be lenient to us, I think they'll want to save some face.

So where are we at with our potential targets?
Martin
Papley
Betts
Butler
Knight
Cutler![]()
That's a big assumption on Adelaide's 'good will' considering they could hold Betts to his contract. They might decide to roll the dice on looking like A-Holes considering there will be big changes soon and it would soon be forgiven when they happen.I think SOS has done well to get it into the media several times now that he himself doesn’t want Betts and that only Teague does. So Reid and the Crows have to think that SOS will walk away from the negotiation if he doesn’t like the deal. So the Crows will face a tough decision on the last day - do they keep Eddie on $600K or whatever the amount is or do they pay part of his salary and free up more space to retain other players.
This is also SOS taking care of Betts as it does seem that Betts is willing to play for us for less than what he’s getting at the Crows so he could walk away from that deal. But why should he if SOS can still get the Crows to pay the difference?

Martin is a 2nd rd at bestGrundy is worth no less than two first rounders, which would mean we won't be getting Papley nor Martin.
Will the AFL allow us to not have first or second rounders across 2 years?Martin is a 2nd rd at best
Trade a couple of players for Papley
He seems more durable than Kruez, how old is he now?7 years is nuts. He’d be 33 and would have spent 13 years being belted in the ruck, with at least the majority of his first seven years being essentially one out - and that scenario likely to continue for the foreseeable future. He’ll be in pieces by the time he’s 30.
His management look after Shiel, Lynch and obviously think they have the TM stamp on seven year deals. As good as he is Collingwood would be mad to cave on that. Given the likely discrepancy in trade value vs FA comp they should push for a trade now - unless they think they’re a chance of winning the flag of course (I hope they do think that).
Good qWill the AFL allow us to not have first or second rounders across 2 years?
Why not offer Casboult + 41 for papley?Martin is a 2nd rd at best

Would you except aliir and a 3rd for Fisher? and papley is a better player than Fisher. Why not offer Casboult + 41 for papley?
If we desperately needed an aliir aliir type perhaps. Casboult is a lot better than aliir and Fisher has potential to be a lot better than papley...Would you except aliir and a 3rd for Fisher? and papley is a better player than Fisher.
C'mon man.

Swans in no way in the universe would do 41 and CAS for PapleyIn fact, if I were SOS I would do;
- Pick 41 + casboult = papley
- Pick 9 and future 1st = Grundy/Oliver/Gaff + future 2nd
- Future 2nd = Martin
I would say the last scenario makes the most sense....but I would love Grundy or Oliver a lot more.
Alternatively, we offer the pies or Melbourne Casboult with our future 1st as they are both crying out for this sort of player.
Thoughts?

Wot the **** are you smoking. Aliir is far better than Cas and still pretty young. Jeeeeezuz that's the worst trade of all time. Pick 9 and Casboult might still get rejected by the swans. If we desperately needed an aliir aliir type perhaps. We don’t need a defender, swans need a forward. It’s not about who the better player is, it’s about acquiring the necessary players...and Casboult would be valuable in that regard to them. I think a lot of people are underselling how well Casboult performed this year and his influence on games. He was a barometer at times.Wot the fu** are you smoking.
