I recall an interview with Mick Agresta toward the back end of the season and when asked what we were after in trade/draft period his answer was "Midfielders". Obviously we were chasing Cogs at the time but Mick's answer indicated that we were chasing a few. Surely there were some contingency plans after missing out on Cogs, wonder what they are.

IMO if we go into next season having acquired Betts, Martin & Papley then our forwardline and backs are just about set but need another A grade midfielder. Whether we address that missing piece of the puzzle this year or in the future is the question. If we don't add another ready-made midfielder that can play hard at the contest, then we would be desperate for at least one of Dow or Stocker to have a huge breakout year to help out Cripps and Ed Curnow.

As is mine... Absolutely stoked to see Eddie will finish his career where he belongs. He still has a heap to offer and those writing him off will see. Looks set to be a defining off season. Bring on finals 2020
Plus we no longer have to worry about where the future FS will be going, all ours haha

From the Hawthorn board after news the Hawks pulled out of the race for Jamie Elliott

"We are not having much luck with Free Agency".

Aww, just so crestfallen for them :D

Like what Reidy? Which removalist to use?

What is wrong with saying “Eddie’s off to the Blues. We wish you well. Thanks for the memories.”

Not everything in footy is about stuffing people over.
bit nice, bd...……..

I'm soooo excited that Eddie's going to be back in the navy blue next year....and in his #19 jumper (hopefully).....and I'm kind of thinking that our big forwards would be quietly excited as well.

There may well be a few kids who have a Carlton jumper with #9 on the back that will ask their Mum and Dad to buy a #1 to sew on next to it....or at least velcro. Eddie could help bring a whole demographic back to games that we lost over recent years.

I like Kingy most of the time, but his take on Eddie returning to the Blues was utter bull****

They’ll just trade out their first rounder, like they’ve done for a decade.

Compensation pending....

They have forgotten about James Frawley already?

Oh and Ty Vickery as well as Ricky Henderson, also Darren Minchington .. okay maybe they have a point.

Agro Jr has still got his (signed and all) it’s coming out of mothballs, shit I might even wear it.

:p

1st part of sentence - tick
2nd part of sentence - that's just silly
That was kind of the point, giving up a 1st round pick for martin is just silly.

Statistically almost identical to Fisher (He takes more marks the only real difference), 3.5 years older though. We would be lucky to get a 2nd rounder for Fisher and if he hasn't improved in the next 3 years what are we doing with him? Martin for mine is a huge gamble, he has had 6-7 seasons to fulfill his potential and hasn't done it yet, I dare say he wont.

Happy for him to prove me wrong but I could care less if we do or don't get Martin, certainly be pissed off if we waste a future 1st that could help us get some midfield support for Cripps next year.

Is their public position that they'll get Daniher for a packet of chips and half a chocolate milkshake?
Yes. Yes it is.
If pushed 3/4's of that milkshake with a bit of malt thrown in.
