You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube at this point.

It's going to be interesting what the virus free or close to virus free states do now because NSW will not be under control ever imo. It will take months if they can in fact do it, but it would take extreme measures. But it's not really worth the cost, only to lockdown again a later for another outbreak. It's crazy.

There needs to be a grown up conversation from all governments in this country about how to move forward.

Agree.

Lockdowns are obviously extremely disruptive and have consequences of their own.

But the benefit is, in addition to the low body count, that in Australia you can actually get to 0 then reap the benefits of living a COVID free lifestyle - which we have for most of the pandemic. Economically you can make up for lost time.

The short term pain of a lockdown is worth it.

But if you don't get the social and economic benefits of a COVID free community, and the lockdown isn't short - then it's a different equation.

Shannon M prefers the social and economic benefits of letting all the old/fat people die because they dont mattter anyway because theyre not his/her family so who cares. i guess it frees up jobs and housing?

Competent contact tracing could manage non Delta variants.

Lockdowns are the only solution for Delta. It's just too contagious. Vic locked down very quick and it still seems to be out there.

So good thing we have a vaccine. We would have never 'eliminated' Delta in Victoria last year.

Easier to solve all your problems with a jab or pill right than getting off your arse and getting your body in condition to mount a fight.

COVID is here forever. There is no going back to normal. Vaccines don't give immunity. They will give a false sense of security and promote COVID spread as seen in every other heavily vaccinated country.
 
Reckon the government sit around barracking for somebody young to get really unwell the rona? Cos whenever there is they are so quickly to let it out and warn us younger folk that it can and does make us seriously unwell?

Yep. Gladys barely ever mentioned someone over 50 passing. A 20 year old is suddenly all over the news
