Realistically, whilst I felt Carlton were stiff from the umps, despite the differential, realistically they kicked themselves out of it by missing gettable goals and robbing themselves of momentum.
This is the general consensus. Yes.

So... what is your problem? You personally don't want people to talk about individual events in a game your team wasn't involved in?

Not sure why you think that's a decision anyone has left to you unless ...

checks mod roster

Nope. Not up to you.

Wow seriously, if it wasn’t for the umps , Carlton win that easily,

Carlton fans should rightly feel cheated after that
Did you miss de Koning getting decapitated?

Constant hands in the back from curnow and McKay?

Cripps throwing everything he touches?

Numerous occasions of staging.

The "anyone but Geelong" commentary might have swayed some.

Stewart is better then all those players combined.

I rewatched it. He's 20m away and the ball is already on its way. Usain Bolt isn't getting there. Absurd.

That doesn't mean his run can be impeded. The further he is away from the ball the more reason to pay a free if someone has blocked his run.

Going round in circles here as the call didn't really matter and it was a 50/50 decision. Nothing to get worked up over.

Oh so you are including players that aren't playing this season, well we didn't have Jimmy Bartel and Gary Ablett Senior.

I wonder if Geelong didn't put the cue in the rack late and keep the margin at 30+ whether or not the umpire melts would be as delicious as they are right about now.
There were a few head scratchers from the umps - obviously not why we lost.

Carlton just couldn’t finish off their work - Geelong did tonight.

Docherty is already out for the year and at his age, coming off a 4th? ACL, he probably finds it difficult to ever get back.
I know it sucks but I'm talking about the ins to come in before this years finals.

I just don't see much upside with those ins. Cerra and Saad will help but the others are the very epitome of depth.
McGovern is improved but again, I would honestly tell you Geelong have a player in the VFL who would be capable of performing to a similar level in his first season and that's not over exaggerating either.

Your VFL team got absolutely smashed today by 100 points. Nothing at all coming through.

Feels like your supporters are using the injury excuse to build up your team to something they aren't.
What excuse? Someone asked which players would come in and who would go out and I replied with my own opinion.

Secondly, on our outs it doesn't matter if you don't see the upside. Cerra alone is significant because he balances out the midfield - we were running Cripps/Hewett/Kennedy CBAs at times which is just never going to work. Ability to spread from stoppage and hit up someone i50 improves dramatically with a Cerra in that midfield mix. Docherty similar thing but let's leave him to the side as it is an ACL. McGovern is a far better player than Young and has been our second best defender for two years now. Brilliant user by foot who can open up the game so easily from the HB line - I'm sorry but you do not have a VFL player that would give you that output. Saad is an great one on one defender who is also an incredible kick. Enough said about him. The HF line at the moment is very bare with only E.Hollands available who was great again. Martin, Motlop and Fogarty are better in pretty much all facets of the game than an Owies or Durdin who are depth pieces at the moment.

Lastly, on your comment about our VFL getting smashed meaning we have no one coming through. Let's look at the maths:
  • Carlton have 44 players currently on their AFL list.
  • 23 of them played in the AFL game against Geelong (leaves 21 players)
  • 2 of them were emergencies and were all held over for the AFL game (leaves 19 players)
  • 12 are currently on the injury list (leaves 7 players)

The AFL-listed players that played in the VFL today were:
  • Dom Akuei (academy player - never played AFL)
  • Harry Lemmey (second-year KPP - never played AFL)
  • Billy Wilson (first-year player - never played AFL)
  • Ashton Moir (first-year player - never played AFL)
  • Rob Monahan (first-year recruit from Ireland - never played AFL)
  • Alex Mirkov (ruckman - never played AFL)
  • Hudson O'Keefe (ruckman - never played AFL)

How can a team be competitive with that?

Your right - only missing 9
Stewart missing and our best midfielder going down mid-match (he was somewhat carrying us to that point) leaving us a rotation down a week after a wet slog - that basically cancelled out the 7 Carlton best 22 players missing today. Those are our two leaders and on field generals. This would be like Carlton missing Cripps and Curnow, or Walsh and Weitering.

Our tired legs resulted in consolation goals that made the margin flattering for Carlton.

I have bolded the excuse (terrific essay, by the way) for clarity.'

Next please enter a similar essay with every umpiring decision you feel did not go Carlton's way, and ignore the soft ones you did get plus the non-calls Geelong were on the end of.

Is Fantasia really best 22?
I mean we have a few players in the VFL killing it at the moment and can't get a game.
Blokes like Fantasia, Cunningham, Motlop, Silvagni . . . they would be around the same mark as those boys.

Saad is class. His creativity opens up the field.
Cerra is excellent but a little the same of what you already have in the middle.

There is no point discussing anything with you. You have Stewart out so no other team's out matter. Umpiring was 100% perfect and everyone saying otherwise is just a whinger. You should just let people state their view and not shoot people down for disagreeing with you.

Hawkins ran to the mark position which occurs dozens of times a game

So from all of my comment. You know postion, time of game, farcical nature etc.

You took away none of it and all you can say is poor Tom Hawkins who gave away a 50 inside of defensive 50....

Clearly I wasted my time, appreciate rationale conversation and discussion but wow...

Enjoy your evening.

I'll leave this here:

You asked "what excuse?". I was just identifying what you asked for.

An in-game injury to one of a sides best midfielders will always hurt, especially with tired legs from the monsoon a week ago. So you need to factor that one in, which was at least as important as Stewart missing.

You asked "what excuse?". I was just identifying what you asked for.
That's not an excuse for the loss. Those outs are significant no matter how this game ended up and the reasons they are significant stay the same. Then to say we have nothing coming through because of the VFL result where we had no one playing is simply ridiculous.

Again, I have identified the excuse. Stop saying you cannot find your excuses. They are really, really easy to find.
