He did not bump.

He was trying to get the ball. It was 100% in line with the centre of his chest.

Evans got there a fraction a second earlier.

We're litterally talking a small fraction of a second.

There was no bump. Just a collision
Evans probably needed to turn his body to protect his head at the last second.

Right hand was a fist and he flexed for the bump. Wasn’t a lot he could do, but he still bumped instead of putting an arm out to absorb it.
3 weeks for sure
Probably go straight to the tribunal really. It was that flex of his arm that will give him a couple of weeks.

His eyes were on Evans, not the line of the ball, and he stuck the shoulder out to collect him.

he knew what he was doing, timing is close enough that he will probably get off/you can see his prspective. he coulda gone about it slightly differently but thats not the player he is, nor what you want from a hard defender

I’m struggling to keep track of Carroll and HOF. They are basically the same player. Can we keep Haynes for another year to keep educating these two. I can’t see either of them or Cowan leaving this half back line for the near future. Tough on JSOS as he may need to go forward for the final month.

If you look at the footage, ever so slightly, May turns. And that turn, coupled with his forward momentum, aligned his shoulder with Evan's jaw and lent the whole weight of his body into it.

Now, generally you turn your body to brace for impact; it's how you teach younger people how to defend themselves on the footy field. But May also has made a habit of being 'clumzy' on a footy field, so much of a habit that I have no qualms about saying he absolutely meant to get him where and when he got him. His elbow turns the way it does when you dip the elbow to ready a bump.

It's slight and it's quick, but it's there.

Anyone else noticing we're faking the kick-out taker and then sending that player off as the first option wide?

Stealing a bit of meterage and forcing the opposition to move a bit.

It’s the first decent bit of kick out strategy I’ve seen from Carlton since 1995 - when we invented the short pass to the back pocket and then switch across the ground
