We might be struggling to get assistants to join. Perhaps they fear for their security, if Voss is replaced

If I were an AFL Assistant Coach, there’s no chance I’d leave a stable role to work under a head coach who’s on the hottest seat in the league and entering the final year of his contract.

Unless the offer came with a significant pay rise, it just wouldn’t be a smart career decision.

Watching AFL360 and it appears that GWS forward line is coached just as poorly as ours, the same thing I’ve noticed Harry and Charlie do constantly was on show for GWS. Players breaking out of the square with ball in hand and every forward is running back towards goal and not one player leading in to the huge space this creates, they showed several examples.

Then when Stringer finally leads in to a paddock, the kicker ignores him, its crazy to see broken down at this level, as you go to the top suburban leagues, my local league is the EFNL and you see big forwards still leading at the ball carrier and being hit up, its not hard.

So maybe Kingsley isn’t the genius we skipped over, huh?

If true, this is an odd change.
Our development during that time was terrible, yet when we start to see some semblance of development, we change back.
I’m missing something just not sure what.
1. Power left so we need to replace
3. He's had years of experience since being with us and Bullants and is currently Head of development at Collingwood. They're going ok last time I checked.
4. He would have been appointed at Collingwood for 2023 under Wright so there's a connection.
5. He was both VFL coach and development manager at Coll until handing over the coaching role. So a good chance he will just be head of development with us and not necessarily VFL coach as well.

Pies footy boss Graham Wright said the club was thrilled to welcome Fraser back. “The skills Josh has as a coach and teacher of the game really complement what we want to do,” Collingwood GM of Football, Graham Wright, said.

“He is a worldy football person, someone who has lived the game from just about every angle and is able to relate that back to his teaching of the game.”

Another thing that drives me absolutely bonkers is no one wants to shepherd anymore, the drive to always get possession overrides the team things to make your teammate look better by not being under extreme pressure when trying to dispose of the ball.

We do it all of the flipping time, and I noted in finals last week there is bugger all players laying a shepherd. I don’t get it

Just my opinion, but I think players are much more wary about shepherding these days...they can often lead to an accidental bump or collision and if head high contact is made, it's then in the lap of the gods.

I’d hope we’ve landed:
Skipworth
Hickmont

Talked to:
Scarlett

Had discussions with a small forward (specialist coach)
Betts
Bruest

Found a kicking/decision making specialist

I can see lots of 0 kick, 20 handball games in Blake Acres future.

It actually shows the value of smart forwards. Jack Gunston will make a good forwards coach when he is done because he understands space and how to become dangerous. All forwards can do it, but he sums things up faster than most, and can also direct others.

Hogan and Stringer aren't the same type and don't seem to play in an intelligent fashion. A coach can tell a forward until the cows come home, but they are still going to default to their own instinct.

Curnow and McKay are not smart forwards. They don't usually make multiple leads or intelligent leads. We need forwards like NFL wide receivers, multiple slant routes, but the ability to double back on a dime. Of course this requires a perceptive midfielder to see the space and trust the forward to double back.

Might be the best way to approach the new last disposal out of bounds rule for Blake

In fairness, Blake gives away the free under both systems.

Where's our modern day Lance Whitnall when we need him?
