From what I understand the players that are paid very well refuse to play 2s.
They mostly have jobs where they can work on a Saturday so if they are not getting paid to play footy they go earn their 500-600 bucks on the tools.
It’s not a stretch, there are plenty of Werribee / Altona clubs now so travel is not the worse. If they need somewhere to play it makes sense for them to join the WFNL.
Also with netball it is a tricky one. Many of the WFNL players play on Friday and then play on Saturdays in other leagues like...
The Melton clubs have netball on Saturdays and the games are played outside at their home grounds. With WFNL games are played on Friday night and in centralised locations. Changing leagues means a club may lose or gain netballers given different structure.
