    http://www.bordermail.com.au/story/1180460/dockers-had-matt-tabbed/ Seems he was playing as a forward the year before we drafted him. Not doubting that he probably played defender at some point throughout his footballing career, but you can't say we didn't draft him as a forward.

    Since when? Bar perhaps the odd quarter, Taberner has played his whole career at the club as a forward. Considering he's just starting to get the hang of that I doubt it's wise to throw him into a completely new position. If I had to choose between Dawson and Tabs as key defender I'd be choosing...

    The good teams certainly have alot more players who are capable of running through the middle. Could see Deluca playing a role similar to Dunkely/Dahlhaus at the Dogs as someone who can drift seamlessly between the midfield and forward line.

    I remember when he was recruited it said a bit in his bio about being able to swing forward, I remember thinking at the end of last season that he was a player that could perhaps try a shift forward and it's nice to see the coaches trying it out.     Get Casboult relatively cheap this year and then get McCarthy next season where he's had another year in the system and we don't have to ask as much for him.     Ok, at 189cm he's perhaps a little taller then expected, but he's never been the type of player that plays a particularly tall game. He's been more of an opportunistic goal scorer then anything else.

    I agree with your points and that's certainly my main argument against playing him, but you have to remember he's only coming into play a tagging role. I doubt tagging requires as much match practice as it's pretty much just following one player the whole game. Crowley's an experienced player...
