    The fact that the VFL changed its name to AFL and added interstate teams is the first issue. That will Never change. Therefore the second is the amount of teams located in one city. It’s unnatural for a competition to have 10 teams within short drive of each other. This makes it impossible...

    Yet all the talk I’ve seen has been around quotas etc are blamed for decline in SA cricket. No critic has mentioned T20 as an issue Years ago people like skull said that test cricket would lose the up and comings to T20 style batting and now most critics just don’t put 2 and 2 together...

    Can’t empathise enough how BBL and 20/20 more broadly has suffocated the quality of test playing nations… South AFrica and Sri Lanka to name 2. 20/20 is king until this changes good luck on finding a decent test spinner

    I’m not sure why the fact that T20 cricket hasn’t been talked about in SA’s decline this year in tests. Every country is producing great stroke players or sloggers ready for hit and giggle cricket but when it forms to the patience of tests matches not even close.
