    I'd say the 49er and Eagles teams that had to battle Mahomes, refs and Swifties were better NFC SB teams than Seattle. All those teams would have thumped the Pats too.

    Unlike the AFL which also seems to rinse and repeat finalists, there really shouldn't be any excuse for an NFL team rising. Same salary cap, draft rules, access to best coaching and front office staff is equal. Ownership seems to be the biggest handicapper.
