Expansion 20th team - Irish AFLW team

The Irish are pretty good a getting behind Irish centered teams. Pretty big Irish diaspora in Aus so they may have a local weight of numbers to form a respectable fanbase.

News "State of Origin is back" - Eddie McGuire, March 2025

Watching a replay of what he said, he said "everyone involved" in the proposed 2029 carnival in Perth, without being specific what is meant by ""everyone". That could mean an allies side or other individual states, which IMO the latter would be teriffic.

News "State of Origin is back" - Eddie McGuire, March 2025

While I am not a fan of a combined team, from a competive point of view I can see why they would do it. A NSW team would have a few stars, but also possibly players that are fringe players with their own club, reflecting a lack of depth.

News "State of Origin is back" - Eddie McGuire, March 2025

I don't understand why Perth has to host Origin perennially. An SA vs Vic game in SA would go off like a frog in a sock. Really doesn't matter that SA host gather round. They can do both. Combining QLD and NSW, well I hope that is just Jackovich having a whimsical musing rather than reflecting...

    2026 Attendances

Not much the league can do about it. Can't put more games on Saturday as its too overcrowded and a Monday night game won't work.

GWS is the AFL's biggest problem - not North, GC, or Tassie

And next weekend while the NRL have all vacated Sydney presenting a great opportunity for clean air, the Giants will be playing in -Perth!

GWS is the AFL's biggest problem - not North, GC, or Tassie

Blacktown and Henson Park are not AFL standard grounds. Forget it. You are not attracting fans by playing there.

2025 Non AFL Attendance, TV, Finance etc

Salary cap concessions flagged for Perth Bears. Sounds like strategy on the run from V'Landys after they realised they stuffed up.

That Good Friday game they have really cheap tickets to make it an event.

Thats fine but doesnt solve the Easter show unavailability problem. But then again its not surprising at all that Matthews ignores talking about it as he has never shown interest in trying to find answers to a problem everyone else can see but him.

Then they are hypocrites if they do. Top 4 Souths, one of the biggest supporter bases in Sydney, yesterday could only muster 16k against another Sydney side. So there should be media laying in the boots in such situations. If they don't, it should be called out.

GWS is the AFL's biggest problem - not North, GC, or Tassie

From next year, Souths are transitioning home games away from Accor Stadium, leaving Canturbury as the only full time tennant. Therefore, Accor will be underutilized and looking for new opportunities for more use.

    2026 Ladder Predictions

Very generous on Collingwood making a prelim this year. I think they have been pretty inconsistent so far this season.

Not sure what 13 v 17 is suppossed to get. Most wouldn't have had any expectations of a decent crowd in a place like Western Sydney. Not surprisingly you have rushed in here though when there is unfavorable news about the Giants.
