Autopsy Dismal Dogs Lose to Hawthorn

The forward line was diabolical last night. Naughton and Khamis had no influence and were hardly able to halve a contest, further to that regularly a bunch of smalls also going up for the mark with them too - just for hawks players to race the ball out once it hit the ground. When Vanders and...

Autopsy Bulldogs lose 127-113 to Geelong. Flat

Our inability to work our way through Geelong’s pressure in the 2nd quarter was the most disappointing aspect for mine. They had a specific plan and we couldn’t adjust which lead to turn over after turn over and easy goals for them out the back. But their pressure wasn’t sustainable and we got...

Why do you go for the Western Bulldogs?

Grew up in Tassie, got given a doggies jumper when I was 4 and they've been my team ever since. My Dad followed the Swans but he never tried to get me over to them but not quite sure I would do the same with my kids... Early on I got a tour of the Whitten Oval when I was 6 and over in Melbourne...

    All the best Jarrad Grant

Always had a soft spot for spindles but averaging 14.5 disposals and kicking 11.14 for the year...you can see why a new contract wasn't forth coming. He just didn't have a consistent enough impact across 4 quarters. He would have been a lot better off playing the role he did much earlier in...

    Review vs Adelaide autopsy thread

I feel a lot better after watching Bevo's presser. I think he identified where we went wrong and will be looking to work on it over pre-season. Next year I feel confident we'll be there again. As Bev mentioned pushing the zone too far up early in the game resulted in some very preventable...

News Bulldogs Announce Major Partnership with State Government on Ballarat

Its been a fairly barren landscape sponsorship-wise apart from Mission. Getting involved with state government is a good move.

Roast Will we ever win a game in this stupid red alternative guernsey?

I like that it's just a variation of the home strip by predominately using one of the minor colours on it. Sure the shade of red could be better but compared to most other clubs clash jumpers its doing alright.

Analysis Critical analysis of our current position.

Nobody was expecting Gryphon and his ~800k salary to walk its self off the books. When he does do that and the cap is at the minimum amount, you can't just draw up new contracts over night for x, y, z and offer more money for the following year to get the cap up to the minimum, it just doesn't...

My take on the NAB game and the list

I'd say he is about my favourite at the moment - just a weird unit. But averaging 13 clever disposals and a goal a game doesn't get you any further than fringe best 22 these days he simply has to be involved in more of the play each game.

Jon Ralph on why Macca was sacked

It's a tricky balancing act, one that I doubt most coaches would survive. The need to move on veterans that aren't 'your guys' seems to be a must if they aren't buying in. With the way free agency is setup if you ship out those players that aren't going to give the end of their career to help...

    The Western Bulldogs Next Coach

I wouldn't go there but it's a little unusual to have breaky with your mum at your work place...but did Macca do it because he wants Hunter to fire back and stick up for himself? Is Macca probing what he considers a weak spot but he wants to get a reaction from him and stand up for himself about...

    The Western Bulldogs Next Coach

Has to be Tudor. Coached Geelong VFL team, won the cup in 07, assistant under Lyon at the Saints & then up to the Swans with Longmire. Improves North defence when he goes there as well this year. Good fit to take the team in broadly the same direction Macca had us going in - contested footy...

    The Lesson Learned

Ripping post mate. I wonder if anyone did speak up with reservations when the appointment was mooted? Clearly people/Macca thought Ryan would grow in to the role but boy did they get that wrong.

Mega Thread The Western Bulldogs - The Sack Macca saga

Agreed. At the very least senior players like Cooney, Minson and Griffen all have to be moved on and the role players and could-have-beens like Tutt and Jones also have to hit the road (what a selection of players that should be venerated and listened to ) at least Higgins is already...

Ryan Griffen the worst captain in VFL/AFL history?

He played his best footy in '13, it wasn't too outlandish an idea that the club thought he would grow into the role. But he didn't, that being said he could have relieved himself of the role a lot cleaner than he did. Griffen's exit of the club has been extremely ugly, you couldn't make it up.
