Lin Jong anyone? http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/western-bulldog-lin-jong-weighing-up-offer-from-gold-coast-suns-as-collingwood-withdraws/news-story/076241ae4c05cf7aa1f2a921af4e121a Definitely shows the hunger that we're so lacking from some of the midfield incumbents (Dangerwood aside of...

Review AFL prelim final review geelong loses to sydney

Completely agree. That's why drafting talent for the bulk of your team works if you want to win a Premiership - rather than (solely) the patchwork method of topping up. It's why the Dogs are the one team that hasn't had concessions that might actually take it up to the "assisted" teams. Classy...

Game Day AFL Preliminary Final - Geelong vs Sydney

Think you have hit the nail on the head. I was not feeling that stressed about this game, nor am I now that devastated by the result (have had an hour to get over it). The reason: anyone but Hawthorn.

Game Day AFL Preliminary Final - Geelong vs Sydney

Both these teams are pretty banged up. Whoever meets GWS (okay, Sydney) is going to get absolutely pummelled.

Game Day AFL Preliminary Final - Geelong vs Sydney

The guys look pretty exhausted at the moment. Not "conditioned" as the Club said they would be after the week off. Hopefully they can stand up in the last quarter and show some pride.

Seriously can't take a trick with the umpiring. Just not our night. It's often the way - the team on top gets the rub of the green (as if they need it).

Game Day AFL Preliminary Final - Geelong vs Sydney

This is for the post-mortem, but I have to wonder if the whole "Frankenstein" experiment is a good one. I think it's pretty clear from a number of teams (not just us) that you need to build a premiership team around draft talent, not a patchwork of recruits and some older former stars. I would...

Game Day AFL Preliminary Final - Geelong vs Sydney

Not sure the Giants will be preferred over us if we make it. Every Victorian (and add to that, Western Australian, Queenslander and South Australian) will be barracking for the Cats. They all know the Giants time will come. But hopefully not next week.

Preview Preliminary Final 2016 - Geelong v Sydney, Friday 23 September 7:50pm, MCG

I feel awful for Menz, but given he hasn't exactly been on fire (and clearly isn't the equivalent of Danger/Selwood), it won't matter much either way. In fact, having someone "new" come in might throw the opposition off a little bit AND have the added benefit that the "new" player will be...

Preview Preliminary Final 2016 - Geelong v Sydney, Friday 23 September 7:50pm, MCG

Most commentators who are favouring Sydney are getting skewed in their vision by two things: Sydney's win against Adelaide and their win over the Cats in round 18. None seem to acknowledges Geelong's last game (which, despite the Hawks subsequent loss to the Dogs after they were cooked, was...

Review QF-Geelong defeat Hawthorn by 2 points

And the extra week off after winning the first final only plays into that even further. IE our fourth quarter dominance vs a team that's played one extra (highly physical) final will only be heightened. I hope. ;)

Review QF-Geelong defeat Hawthorn by 2 points

Watching the last quarter again, it's quite apparent how much fitter the guys are this year. Their fourth quarters all year are a testament to that. But watching that game, it's amazing how clean and energetic some of the players were despite the slog the game was all night. In restrospect...

Review QF-Geelong defeat Hawthorn by 2 points

Although, to be fair, I think we all felt that the Hawks had the momentum for much of the match, which comes from their dominance of the uncontested possessions. The commentators are human. Like us, I think they felt the Hawks were dominating and commentated accordingly. The scoreboard was...
